The question is, is HBO willing to put up Cotto WCB type money for Featherweights.
If you give that doubleheader the type of money you would give a Cotto or a Mosley WCB fight......about $3.5 million, I think that can make all 4 happy.
The obstacles are Bob Arum willing to put his two gems in against live guys that aren't also under his banner. And also, will HBO put that kind of money into a Featherweight card? And if they do, they would have to put up Alexander/Bradley type money for the fight between the winners. That's a lot of $$$ in one year to put into Featherweight. They should do it, but I don't know if they will.
I would take Lopez and Gamboa in the semis, and then Gamboa to stop Lopez in the finals.
yeah I seriously doubt Arum would let Lopez fight Cab at this point.
I think Gamboa will fight Chris John though, as it's a mandatory. Not quite as risky though in Arum's eyes of course.
Yea, I agree.
What's crazy though, is that it IS financially feasible. I mean, to say that, most would just be like "no way that can happen". But actually thinking about that...if HBO put up a fairly run of the mill number for the double header, it would be career high paydays all around.
Love the smaller weights, you're actually able to make mega cards for reasonable prices. Kills me that the only person standing in the way of it is Arum.
I think HBO would put up that money when I think about it. God, I need to get a job with HBO sports.

yep, that's partially why I made this thread. This could easily be a reality if all parties agreed to actually fight.
John's inactivity and age will hurt him against Gamboa, IMO. I like Gamboa in that one.
I'm curious to see more of Caballero with Mayweather. I thought he showed improvements in his last fight, looking forward to the Litzau fight to see what else they've worked on.
I hope Rojas gets healthy soon. He's a dark horse.
