Slick fighters: universally, people wanna see them get hit. Why?

I find that even though I am a fan of Mayweather, Judah, Corey Spinks, Shane Mosely and sometimes, Chris Byrd, I still want to see them get clobbered!

It's wierd, I know! I love the way they can hit and not be hit but I guess coz I know I can never fight like that, I wanna see the average fighter tag them on the chin! But I always applaud these fighters when they finish a long combo without getting hit at all! Why? Coz it's pure science and that to me is amazing! It's not a choreographed kung-fu flick - it's the real thing!

Does anyone else feel this way about these slick fighters even though you like them (or some of them)?

It's about seeing someone solve a puzzle, sort of.

I always wanted to see someone get to Pernell Whitaker...not because I wanted him to lose or to get hurt......but because it was an ACCOMPLISHMENT to hit him with anything decent (especially a combo).

I never want a slick fighter to get hit, unless I'm the one who has to be doing the hitting of course. hah ha he ha he ha ...

You got problems, man. Why would you wish death on slick fighters?

I wouldn't. I love watching guys like Floyd fight. They're so fundamentally sound that its beautiful to watch them move in the ring. Even when you get a guy like that on the ropes, all you can hit is gloves, forearms, shoulders and elbows. Rolling the shoulder is one of the best techniques in boxing. The chin is always hidden and the head is always moving. Its really just an amazing thing to watch.

And in Floyd's case, you combine that with his deadly handspeed and you gotta a damn machine. He's like the prototype for all slick boxers to be modeled after.

No, I dont want to see them get hit. They're good boxers that dont get hit. Why would I want to see an average boxer, hit them then?

Also, look at this gif. Look how Barrera responds to Pac man's barrage. He just puts his head down, Mayweather and other defensively minded fighters would have put at least an arm up. Its seeing these avatars that make me appreciate slick fights and true masters of the game.

Barrera just took the punches! I bet Mayweather cringes when he sees fights like this.

Or Marquez looking at Pacman's punch and not even flinching or defending himself. I cringe when I see fighters at the lower weights who are all brawler and no defense.

Floyd would cringe at the way Rahman tried to avoid that Lewis right....head up, arms spread.

Personally....I'm glad there's only a small amount of defensive whizzes like Floyd...or else there'd be less contact in boxing than there is in golf !
