I was at that fight, looked pretty full to me. Gamboa might have some good reflexes and some decent skills, but he's totally easy to hit, has a million flaws and has no chin.

Gamboa only gets hit when he stops fighting with discipline. When Gamboa is focused, he can actually box, hit without getting hit, Juanma has no such ability.
Also when Gamboa does get hit or KD its usually from being off balance, we havent actually seen him wobbled or hurt before. Again, cant say the same thing about Juanma.
Juanma gets hit with everything that gets thrown at him, as long as Gamboa shows movement(and he will) hes gonna splatter Juanma.
PS Juanma is scared of Pelenchin Caballero and its easy to see. I dont understand how people have made Juanma out to be the next great anything, hes a fun fighter with power and heart but something special he is not.

I liked gamboa but he aint **** in his last 2 fights hes been dropped by bums he has a glass jaw and cant impress ppl against c class fighters juanma destroys this kid easy fight for lopez i want lopez v.s the clown

Somebody who fights in about the same weight class that I suggest fans should keep an eye on: Guillermo Rigondeaux. Cuban. 5-time Amateur world champion. 2-time Olympic champion. He was once one of Freddie Roach's wards at Wild Card but it has been reported that he had training stints with Roger Mayweather, as well. Former Sweet Pea trainer Ronnie Shields now handles him. He is slated to meet Ricardo Cordoba who is the last fighter to beat Celestino Caballero. They'll face each other for the interim WBA World SuperBantam title in the Pacquiao-Margarito undercard. It will be Rigondeaux's 7th pro appearance, Cordoba's 41st. Cordoba's last loss was to Bernard Dunne in Ireland in a fight that featured 6 kd's (4 suffered by Cordoba in the third and in the 11th, 2 by Dunne in the fifth).

Edit/Add: Rigondeaux lived with Y. Gamboa in Florida following his defection from Cuba last year. With Shields now training him, I believe he now resides in Houston.

Very patient. Good punch (two one-punch KO's to the body), 5 stoppages in 6 fights. I thought it would have taken him a couple of years to get some real attention but by the look of things, he'll have that pretty much earlier.

I am tempted to say that Cordoba is going to be his first real test but I can't. Rigondeaux is that good, in my eyes. I'm not into predictions but I'll go out on a limb in this one: barring complications, P4P guy in a couple of years.

I would suggest Rigo fight somebody like Abner Mares, who defeated Juanma in the AMs.

yeah i do think so, he definitely can be p4p in a year or so with the right fights. he's 30 now and i don't think his handlers are gonna take their time with him. he's gonna be a tough matchup for anyone in his weight class.

He'll have lots of possible great fights ahead of him. Yes, indeed.

The Mares fight may have to be at SuperBantam, if it comes about. Rigondeaux and Shields have recently been reported as saying Guillermo won't have any fight lower than 122lbs.

There's an amateur Russian Featherweight whose name escapes me at the moment and who has been making waves in the past half a dozen years. IF he turns pro, a fight between him and Rigondeaux three years down the road can be a mega fight too. But the Russian has been quoted as having said many times that he had no plans of turning pro. Too bad.

Edit: Defining "mega fight" in terms of superior quality of the contest rather than purely financial considerations.
