Or would they MAKE him drop the 2 pounds..
The 150 pound catchweight is the maximum both guys can weigh, so Margarito would have to burn the 2 pounds.

Pacquiao typically comes in under the maximum weight limit so (He weighed at 144 against Clottey, for example). He wants to come in as light as possible to maintain his speed advantage over his opponent. This is nothing new.

well, that's marg's choice. the contracted weight at the weighin is 150. That's the LIMIT. In other words, both fighters can come in at any weight between 148 to 150. At fight night however, they can come in at any weight they want to. Both Pac and Roach themselves said that they expect Margarito to be at least 20 lbs heavier than Pac come fight night.

I know it's a 150 limit, but wer'nt they contracted to meet there?
They gave Floyd hell for not losing 2 pounds, cause the extra 2 pounds would have drained him.
Now Mannys not putting 2 pounds on, cause it will make him slow.
        Aint this the same thing?

        Or is it just me
        It's just you.

150 is the maximum because if the contract demands a strict 150, then logic says 149 3/4 would be penalized

What matters is that both fighters make it to 151,

But in the case of Manny, his team are more concern for his best fighting weight, that would showcase his speed!

Manny's upcoming fight will remind us on how the prime Mike Tyson fought with speed and power enroute to Knocking out his taller opponents!

yeah, at least according to them pac was handling his weight better during the training for the clottey fight (which was also at a lower weight)... either that or just a different gameplan.

is this the real imdazed btw? or did someone hack your account? i mean, last time i checked the topic doesn't have anything to do with PED's or bloodtesting...

It's just you. The situations are completely different, and there's a huge difference between a balzingly fast fighter being a little slower, and a fighter who depends on his power and durability, being drained , for a fight.

Speaking of Floyd, didn't he come in at 150 for a 154 fight with Oscar?

I think Ariza was full of it. They said Pac weighed 142 the morning of the weigh in for Clottey and tipped the scales at 145 3/4. No way he was training at 154 for that WW fight. Why wouldn't the same thing have happened before with Pac slowing down? Ariza was just doing some spin. Maybe he wanted Pac to gain more for this fight, but he's not going to be coming in lighter than he was against Clottey.

And if it was 147.1 limit 150, why were they saying Manny weight was low? Seems like they tried to get him to 150, and chose to stop at 148. Just seems strange..
He could come in at 135 or less, if it pleased him and he chose to do so, The weight limit is just THA, a limit. Henry Armstrong regularly came in at 7-10 lbs or so less than his weight LIMIT when fighing as welterweight. Remember he won the Welterweight title BEFORE the lightweight totle, when still afeatherweight.

The limit for this fight is, I understand, NOT 150 lbs, but 151.

It's a 150 WEIGHT LIMIT and it doesn't take a lawyer to know that pacquiao can come in at 105 lbs ffs .
