i must admit that Rafa has a good chance although I'm rooting for my Guy. I beleive Rafa still has fight in him and this fight will give us hint where Juanma could be and how good he really is.
I don't think the Juanma is underestimating Rafa. I think the quality of Boxers that Juanma has face has been improving and this is a high risk high reward fight for him. Caballero would be a high risk (probably even higher risk than Marguez) but a much lower reward fight. I see Caballero fighting Gamboa or Juanma only after Juanma and Gamboa face each other.could be. but it seems more likely to me juanma thinks rafa is sufficiently past his prime enough now that he can take him. and i think he is doing the same with pelenchin. he just wants to wait long enough that pelenchin is slipping. in 3 or 4 years i am guessing he will take the fight
That's if Rafa doesn't spoil it tonight.Comment

I think you're going a bit too far here. You're right about Caba in the sense that he's a true warrior and will fight anyone at any time, but because of his managerial/promotional situation, he has to be like that. Juanma, on the other hand, is being managed by some of the most savy, and arguably the most powerful boxing people on the planet. He's super high profile and is making big money for a featherweight, but make no mistake, he's being controlled by powerful forces. The best thing that could happen (if you're not Puerto Rican, that is), is for Lopez to lose in a war tonight thus giving him less leverage to pick and choose exactly who he wants to fight, and when he wants to fight em. Then maybe we'd get a Lopez - Caba showdown.um, this isnt the thread for that. but you obviously have no idea the mentality of panamanians. pelenchin would have fought every single would of them if he could. that is the difference between juanma and pelenchin. pelenchin wants money, sure. his first fight was done purely for money. but he also loves to fight. it is his passion. juanma is more like gina carano. i dont think he loves the sport. if he were offered the same money to be an actor or singer, he would quit in a second. defend him all you want, but you cant be called out that many times and not defend yourself and still convince me you are a warrior at heart. if he were he would make more than a few weak attempts to say he would do it.
i promise you, if pelenchin were making say 500k per fight, and he was just cruising along not really having much trouble and then out of the blue some guy started talking the same **** to him, that fight would be made. no excuses. no hiding behind his promoter saying there is no money in it. the fight would be made. period.Comment

my point was just that if it were reversed, i can promise you caba would make arum arrange that fight, period. caba is thick headed enough that it wouldnt matter if it were in his financial interests to not take it, he would still insist on protecting his "manhood." there is no doubting that juanma is an extremely gifted fighter. he has great talent. but i think he knows deep down if it comes down to it, he wont be able to dig deep and come up with something extra. i just dont see the warrior spirit.I think you're going a bit too far here. i dont know if it matters the result of this fight. i think if he wins and goes to gamboa next, i think the loser of that will likely have to face him. there arent a lot of other options. and trust me, we are going to take it to another level at his website pumping this upComment

i think you are the lone rational PR on the planet that can actually have an intelligent conversation about this (no disrespect to your country). i dont think he is underestimating him either. i just think he sees a guy who is past his prime with a big name and it would look good on his resume. and i agree on your last pointi must admit that Rafa has a good chance although I'm rooting for my Guy. I agree. Good post. That's what I have been trying to say about Caballero. It's not that he is a bad fighter or does not deserve a fight against Juanma, Gamboa, etc...I think you're going a bit too far here. You're right about Caba in the sense that he's a true warrior and will fight anyone at any time, but because of his managerial/promotional situation, he has to be like that. It's just because were he stands promotional wise and what type of revenue he brings to the table.
The other point you hit on target is that Caballero has better chances facing Juanma if he loses today because everybody knows that the fight that is being pushed for is Gamboa vs Juanma and Caballero could spoiled that Big Payday.Comment
