I hear you re. Paul's personality even if nobody else got that - he isn't a 'sensational' personality, but he's got a saleable kind of personal charm, he's very hard to dislike when you see him talk.

I don't personally dislike him but after hearing how he was the most feared man on the planet and nobody in any division would ever fight him I have to admit I liked seeing Quintana convincingly beat him. I felt Sergio won as well.

There was a thread on here a couple days ago about how he should ALREADY be considered for #1 p4p... What are people seeing that I don't see? I see a rangey guy who knows how to use his arm leverage more than his body to conserve his stamina. A guy who could pull off some upsets but also be upset. Which is what has panned out in real life so far.

He lost a 7-5 decision once and blew the guy out. Pretty far from your estimates of how his career has panned out.

Oh and you're right about Paul's personality. He's the polite guy that calls people sir etc. and has a laid back, nice guy vibe but has some good one-liners as well.

For all the talk of Paul getting hit flush too much, you leave out many facts because your Mexican, Puerto Rican or Las Vegas money whores are scared of him. He has a deadly jab when he wants, outjabbing Winky Wright which has never been done in boxing. He can KO guys from the outside (Quintana, Kolle) he can destroy guys on the inside (Phillips, Matthysse) he can outbox boxers (Winky) he can out pressure and out volume the biggest and busiest around (Margarito) he can win wars (Martinez) and he can mop the floor with former greats (Sharmba Mitchell).

Probably for a few reasons.

1 - So he could meet Pacquiao after at a lower catch weight instead of having Arum dismiss him as a full fledged MW

2 - He heard Martinez was heavy

3 - I have no idea the other 2 points were merely speculation. I doubt it was Paul's idea. Goossen or Haymon came up with it and who knows why?
