I read an interesting article by Roy Jones jr :
ROY JONES JNR has issued a stinging rebuke to Floyd Mayweather for not taking a fight with Manny Pacquiao. The American legend in fact used to favour Mayweather as the superior of the two. But he appears to have altered his opinion.

While coaching a masterclass at London’s Real Fight Club, Jones also took the time to answer general questions. His take on the Mayweather-Pacquiao saga was revealing. “Off the top I like Mayweather. Now that has changed,” he confessed.

He explained his reasoning, albeit in a round-about way. He picked out two students from the class and stood them in front of him to form the points of a triangle. He pointed at one then the other, saying, “His name is David Haye, his name is Vitali Klitschko.” Gesturing at himself, he declared with a smile, “My name is Roy Jones.”

His thought experiment continued: “They call me and tell me, like they did the other day, at Wembley you and David Haye will sell it out. David Haye is in his prime right now and let’s say I’m back in my prime. Let’s say I’ve just won a world title in the same weight class. They decide to have a battle to decide who’s best between he and I.

“It’s going to be the biggest fight in this country, we’re just saying, this is going to be the biggest pay-per-view event ever in the history of the sport. And we’re going to find out who’s the best fighter, right? Okay, he says, ‘I’m all in.’”

At this point it begins to become clear that the fictitious Haye in this parable represents Manny Pacquiao. “I’m going to make him wait for now,” Roy explained. “I’m the boss, I’m the best, I’m going to wait. So he tells me, ‘I’m going to go fight Vitali Klitschko.’ What do you think I’m going to do?”

Jones held up his hands, answering himself, “That’s not going to happen.” He swung his finger from one man to the other, insisting, “I’m not going to let him [Klitschko] steal my glory whipping his [Haye’s] behind when he thinks he’s as good as me. If I think I can beat him, I don’t want to take that chance.”

While this example may be a worrying indicator of the heavyweight company Jones still pictures himself keeping, he made his point clear: “So why does Floyd Mayweather let Manny Pacquiao go take that chance with [Antonio] Margarito? If [Pacquiao] loses, whether through a fault, whether it’s a headbutt, that ruins this big fight. So if you really thought you could beat him, would you allow him to do this?”

His message to Floyd continued: “You talked yourself into this too. You’re claiming to be the best fighter pound-for-pound. Now that the man agreed to take a blood test, you’re still messing around. So do you really think you can win?”

Roy delivered his verdict on the matter. “I’m starting to think he don’t. Because if he did he wouldn’t let this [Margarito fight] happen. I was thinking Mayweather was the better fighter to begin with and I still think he’s the better fighter,” Roy revealed. “But I don’t think that he believes he can win. If he does think he can, he doesn’t think it’s easy.”

Jones pointed once again at the two men standing dutifully in front of him as depictions of Haye and Klitschko. “Truthfully if I let him fight him, I’m hoping I don’t have to fight. That’s what Floyd’s thinking. He’s hoping [Pacquio’s] upset so he never has to fight.”

Who said anything about now? He has a bigger frame than most of those guys, that creampuff should have been lining up when the competition was first conceived.

He needs to do something, ANYTHING, to try to make a name for himself.

Calling a guy a coward when he is 7" shorter and at least 2-3 weight divisions below where you should be fighting..... doesn't sit well with me.

He is a circus-freak, like Valuev. He is obviously more skilled than Valuev, but he is not a top fighter, which is why he is hanging around the welterweight division like a bad smell. And Valuev, like Williams, only achieved because of his physical advantages.

Well, Manny is about to compete at 154, against a cheating bum who got KTFO by an old past-prime welterweight. I don't see what that has to do with Williams calling out welters, when everybody can plainly see that he does not belong at 147, regardless of his freakish ability to enter the ring lookin like a garden rake?

Williams is a jack-of-all trades, and a master of none.

If Williams was the real deal he would have settled on a division, cleaned it out, tried to get some weight behind his punches, and at least made an attempt to solidify his standing in the eyes of most fan's/promoters.
      Williams doesn't have a bigger frame than most guys...and he's not 6'3.

      Fuuck is your malfunction??

Clottey..Cotto...Shane...Berto...all have bigger frames than Williams.

Williams throws more punches at WW than anybody...YOU CAN'T DO THAT IF YOU'RE DRAINED.

      Plus

He takes a damn good punch at 147....again....you can't do that if you're drained.

Paul is a WW....that's where he'd love to be...but he can't get fights there.

Sharmba Mitchell and Quintana look like heroes for fighting him at WW...

Anyone that knows boxing knows Paul Williams is OVERRATED! His footwork sucks, he is 6'2' but fights like his 5'7. He gets hit way to much and has no defence what so ever. Carlos Q beat the **** out of paul, margarito beat the **** out of paul (I thought the fight couldve gone to margarito). And last but no least, Martinez beat the **** out of Paul Williams. Martinez slipped when he got knock down. Martinez rocked williams when he got knocked down. Martinez also knocked a booger out of pauls nose. ANd if im being real PAUL DOESNT want to fight Martinez again, he rather lose weight and fight these little guys like Manny and Mayweather. But dont get it twisted Floyd will hit williams at ease and ko will.

Too bad it will never happen because Paul is getting ko by martinez the slick boxer!
Most if not all of Williams fans are delusional. And it is nice to see that at least one poster on here can see through all the hype that is Paul Williams.

yeah maybe if paul grew a pair of ****.........

seriously though, i think mayweather wouldn't even entertain the idea of fighting williams, too much hassle, too active of a fighter who has too long of a reach i'm sure for Joy's liking..........

we all know mayweather would say, " paul williams who? who is this guy? i don't even know who he is to be honest ", then go on to say, " he's fought nobodies ", " he has a loss on his record, therefore i already know how to beat him, so why fight him?", then go on to say, " he got hit by that guy who he thinks is a model and snot came out his nose, i can't fight a snotty fighter! "....

all the while we will all be thinking, " floyd? thought you never heard or seen this guy or know anything about him???? "

when floyd probably knows his cup size......

bottom line floyd will never just step up to the plate and fight a guy, it always has to be a ass circus..............

No Paul!! Don't say you regret that comment, damn it! That was awesome.

Good luck to Williams or Martinez ever getting a fight with Mayweather or Pac, I'd be the most shocked person in the world if it ever happened.

PW needs to apologize! really. just like life, we need a villain and a hero. no body wants to see a villain looking for a fight against another villain. If Floyd is the villain in the eyes of most, PW needs to be the good guy. hence the apology.

You really think that? I think PWILL has more of a chance at beating FLoyd than Pac will. Pac's too small. i remember not too long ago that EVERYONE complained that Mayweather ALWAYS fights smaller fighters. Pac is no different. Pwill has more reach, about the same output of punches (compared to Pac) and possibly more power. If anyone wants to see Floyd challenged, then Mayweather fighting Martinez at 147-154 is where its at. Sergio is the only guy that I think gets Floyd. He's bigger, equal in speed, more power, he's a southpaw, he's very experienced, and boxes very well.

If people actually want to see Floyd beaten they would be asking for that fight. Not saying Floyd scared of another small fighter in Pac as those same people probably bet that Floyd wouldn't even step into the ring with "too good" Mosley (as Pac NEVER intended on doing from 141-147)....... Its the same story different fighter every time Floyd fights. If he beats a bigger threat like Martinez nobody could say anything IMO.
