The contracts filed with the New York State Athletic Commission confirmed reports circulated previously in boxing circles that HBO had paid a license fee of $750,000 for Ortiz-Campbell.

But the most compelling argument that Ortiz-Campbell wasn’t worth $750,000 lies in what the fighters were paid. Victor Ortiz received a $100,000 purse. Nate Campbell was paid $125,000 plus an additional $25,000 for training expenses.

They pay $250K to Ortiz and Campbell but got $750K from HBO.


That's 500K to GBP and 250K to the fighters.


Does all promoters earn this way?

Did Campbell get a signing bonus? Did Golden Boy have to buy his contract from Don King?

Unless people know all the facts there's really no way of knowing. I'm sure if Campbell got ****ed his manager would be here telling us all about it.

GBP is a big organization that has to make some money or else why be in the business. Put that in with the actual cost they incurred in promotion and I am sure 500k is about right.

Ortiz and Campbell should have been pleased as punch with what they were getting, considering how they looked in recent fights.

King got payed by GBP? so he didnt have a cut from Campbell's 150K ?
