David Tua fought at a time when the HW division was said to be weak...

    And there are four belts.

Then why did David Tua never hold a world heavyweight title?

From what I remember he only got one chance, versus Lewis and lost bad.

maybe because the guys with the belts didn't give him a title shot?

you are aware that his only title shot was lewis right?

not everyone can get ktfo by corrie sanders and get a title shot again the next year.

The fight with Byrd was an eliminator, right?

Why has he fought so many journeymen? He could have become mandatory at different times by fighting better opposition.

Well the weak HW era is after Lennox retired, which was 2003.

By that point Tua had already been pro for 11 years and had 45 fights

TUA is past his prime during the Weak HW period!!!

is this really a thread about tua or a 'lick a klitschko's nut' thread?

Because he had a great dimension to him, but only one. He was an all-out slugger with thunderous power. However, while he had decent speed, he wasn't lightning-fast. He didn't have incredible technique or fundamentals. He didn't have incredible stamina. No incredible intangibles. He has average in virtually everything other than power at best.

He wasn't that good. He was jus great in one area.

i'd pay to see tua fight any day.

but you'd have to pay me to see a wlad fight.

                  i'd rather watch paint dry.

i'm not hatin, just being honest.

Tua was only age 30 when Lennox had his last fight. He's still only age 37.

He had fewer fights at that time than Wladimir Klitschko had in 2005 when he was age 30.

You would think the expereience would have made him a better fighter, and he would have at least won one of the ABC titles.

But then Tua lost by a wide margin to Chris Byrd. Perhaps he wasn't really world-class.
