How come Mike McCallum is not a big name?

Mike McCallum is one of my favorite fighters, but his name never appears next to such names as Thomas Hearns or Sugar Ray Leonard. He never had a appealing or flashy style, but he was a great crafty slick fighter. I think he's way overlooked. Does anyone feel the same way?

    hmm

McCallum is not next to those guys because those guys were too scared to fight him, plain and simple. McCallum even when he was old gave prime Roy something to think about, and Toney serious problems. Perhaps deserved a decision over Toney once. McCallum in his prime, based on this, would have stood a great chance to beat SRL and/or Hearns with his unrelenting style.

I see it differently. I think Hearns would have knocked him out and Ray Leonard would have won a very close decision against him.

        hmm

If the Hawk couldn't stop Mike, Hearns probably wouldn't. Tommy's long body would take a severe beating from McCallum I think.

At a press conference in 1991, Eubank was asked why he wouldn't accept McCallum's calls for a unification and Eubank said "What does he bring?". I think that sums it up.

Eubank said "I see no logical reason to risk being stopped late and losing my championship for such small money, I have to think of my family. I can make five to 10 times that ammount in a re-match with Watson or 10 to 15 times that ammount in a re-match with Benn. I'd definately beat McCallum if the money was right because I'm different gravy but what I'm not saying is that it would be easy! You see there's only so many tough fights left in anybody. After I fought Benn, I couldn't get up for days and was urinating blood, I had internal damage. And you know exactly why he's got that Body Snatcher nickname, right? Do you know what I am? I'm a smart warrior."

He wasn't scared, he just wanted to make a living!

Remember what Steve Collins said? Collins said "I made a couple of thousand dollars fighting Mike McCallum and Reggie Johnson in America, I made a couple of million pounds fighting Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn in the UK."

America has too many great boxers to pay attention to Collins. And there are too many Latin warriors who are more exciting to watch then watching the BOdy snatcher beat the living shiet out of Collins
That little biatch Eubank was scared the Body Snatcher of course. McCallum went to knockout Watson and this little biatch won't be a part of that. And of course that ***** Eubank became a ***** when Toney offered him a contract. He always makes excuses like would have should have. That's what his career went through would have should have. HE claims he would have knockout Collins but phukk he lost the 2nd fight fairly. He claimed he should have won against Thompson on fisrt fight but Thompson busted his left eye. If the rematch set thing right then his ass was handed to him. Eubank was a hypothetical great fighter.
These British idiots always overhype their fighter. It's been like that even when that supposedly great but mediocre at best Bruno was knocking out his first 20 ***** slapping boxers in England then next thing you know the Bonecrusher crushed this piece of overhype crap back to Earth.
