Talked to my uncle about Roy today

As some of you know, I live in Pensacola, Florida. My uncle, referee Tommy Kimmons, has been in boxing for a few decades. He compiled an amateur record of 350 some-odd wins and only 9 losses. Reffed Casamayor, Robin Reid, Brathwaite, Ouma, Lacy undercard, a Hatton fight, and so on. Anywho, he's "in the know" I guess you would say about what goes on in Roy's camp. He knows all the boxing ppl in this town and so he knows little trinkets that might be interesting to some ppl, or maybe not. But anywho, he confirmed to me that Roy is bringing his dad back into his camp to help him get ready for Tarver.

I told my uncle that I hope Roy is training for this fight and he assured me that Roy is with seriousness. I also asked him what does he really think Roy's chances are of winning this fight. He said "better than 50". So, anyway, some good news for the Roy fans out there. If I learn anything else I'll post it.

He also mentioned that he was scratched at the last minute from reffing Reid-Lacy, and said it was a mistake because the ref who did it is a nice guy but did a horrible job (which yes, he did). He's supposed to ref on the Tarver-Jones III card, maybe he'll get lucky and land the main event.

Probably no one knows that but Roy, but that's interesting. I hope not, but I'll ask Monday. I only see my uncle when him and I are in the gym training.

And my uncle's name is in the original post...lol.

              hmm

Roy is 36 now. I like this info coming from my uncle though. Makes me wanna pick Roy to win. We'll see. I am going to be there so I'd hate to get my hopes up just to see Roy get squashed. I am getting more confident that Roy will win though. Roy's dad is a super smart man when it comes to styles.

Will Roy actually listen to his dad. I mean throughout Roy's career he had that kind of I know what I'm doing mentality when his corner would give him directions.

Roy only asks his dad for help if he will listen. Roy wants to do all he can to win. He had did dad come in for Ruiz as well and that was total ownage. Different fight here, but this is encouraging to me that he brought his dad in. I'm an amateur fighter and when Roy Sr.'s guys fight at amateur events I have been to, they rarely lose. Dude just knows styles. Smart guy, looks like a complete slob though.
