Comments Thread For: Jeremy Bryan's Career in Doubt, Glen Tapia Fractures Jaw

By Keith Idec - ATLANTIC CITY — Jeremy Bryan’s boxing career might’ve come to an end tonight at Bally’s Events Center.

Paterson’s Bryan, 24, suffered a sixth-round technical knockout defeat to unbeaten Ronald Cruz in a scheduled eight-round junior welterweight bout. Bryan (14-2, 7 KOs), a two-time national Golden Gloves champion, lost for the second time in three fights and was taken to an Atlantic City hospital as a precautionary measure.

Bryan returned to Bally’s after a CT scan taken on his head and X-rays taken on his right hand didn’t show any abnormalities.

“After seeing this fight, we just feel as though we’ll sit down as a team and talk to Jeremy,” said Pat Lynch, Bryan’s co-manager. “At this time, we think that maybe it’s best that he takes a break, finds himself and if he decides he doesn’t want to do this anymore, we’ll support him 100 percent.” [Click Here To Read More]

This doesn't look good for Glen. how can you spar with manny for four weeks and then struggle against a journeyman?

Manny softened him up during his last week of camp. Where is that video of his busted lip.

Bryan is still young & suffered his second lost by KO & both of them against fighters with good records..The most recent against hard punching Cruz who's undefeated & 2 fights ago against Arroyo who was coming from his 1st defeat & Bryan was clearly beating Arroyo till Bryan got caught at the end of the last round..Instead of thinking of retirement, he should give himself another chance & think on working more on his defense or maybe get a new trainer that could correct his mistakes & see how things workout...

Tru, & it was ONLY a 6 rounder!!!& supposedly he gave Pacquiao the best work..I know it's only sparring but by the way this look's, I don't think this benefits Pacquiao much..

This is happening more and more with top U.S. amateurs coming up short on the national professional level. USA boxing isn't breeding great pros anymore.

Jeremy has excellent skills and determination. Everyone has setbacks in life and true champions shake it out, rise to the occasion and move forward. I really hope Jeremy continues on because i have seen him spar many times in the gym and find him to be an excellent prospect to be a future title holder. Time will tell and he will now do some soul searching and do whats right for him.
Glen Tapia is no joke. He just got back from the Manilla late last week and is still on that time schedule. No excuses here but having seen Glen train and fight many times i can also say that with or with out the jaw injury he will continue on with hard hitting fast fist combinations and silence both the competition and the haters. Remember this: Manny could have picked any fighter in the world to be his sparring partner for his very important upcoming fight but he picked Glen Tapia........Thats a shot heard around the world folks!

Jose Peralta looked great in one of the best fights of the evening. Jose aka "Mongu" showed off some very impressive skills and displayed pure determination to close the deal in the fight. We will all be seeing a lot more of this young gifted fighter. Again, awesome fight that lit up the entire room.
This Bally's Fight Card would have been great television viewing. Wake up TV!!
