Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.- The president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Paco Valcarcel, revealed at the 23rd annual convention that WBO/WBC bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel has put in a request to fight for the super bantamweight title in 2011. The title is held by rising Puerto Rican superstar Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Montiel will likely defend his title in December and could face Nonito Donaire on February 19, which may be the Mexican champion's final fight at bantamweight.
