he might be able to make weight, but at what cost? he's older now and it's harder for his body to not only make weight but be effective. with williams body type he doesn't have much to spare in dropping weight, unless he takes a daily colonix during his training camp, ha, seriously though, if he's sucking water weight and really drying out to make welter, he's gonna get knocked down and maybe out. punches will have a more damaging effect on him with being dried out.

i don't think welter is the best place for williams anymore.

I don't know what that was supposed to say, and I'm not being a prick. Most MW's weigh over 170 at the beginning of the week of the fight. Not 2 lbs over (or 5) 30 days prior to.

Paul really doesn't have any business at WW. Nobody wants to fight him there because he's too big. The best thing I feel he should do is stay at 154-160 and start dominating around there if he gets past Sergio. Rule those divisions so he can make a case for being "the man" there. Thats his best shot at getting a megafight with Floyd or Pac even if it highly unlikely. Even if Pac beats Marg, if Paul dominates everybody else in the division he can at least say "pac or Floyd didn't fight the man yet at 154."

Also has a hell of a lot more exciting match up's at JR & regular middleweight.

I don't know what experience you have with cutting weight, but a lot of guys cut 15 lbs or more within three or four days of the fight. He is 15 lbs away from WW with a month before his fight. He would make it easily and comfortably. He and his trainer said WW is his best weight.

MW isn't his weight though. He should be at WW and JMW. If guys won't fight him it's up to his promoters and HBO to handle that.

It should be though. He's tall enough to be a light heavyweight. He's 6'1-2 while Roy Jones was only 5'11, Bernard was 6'1 too, Toney is 5'10'' and they all have fought as high as light heavyweight even heavyweight. You didn't see them at welterweight. I think it would be better for him to stay at 154 & 160 and just add muscle which I think would do wonders for him and maybe put some more pop and power behind his 100's of punches.

But if guys won't fight him theres no point in staying there when all the good fights for him are at Jr MW & MW. It's a big issue if he can't get good fights there. That's less money in his pocket and a waste of his time when he could be legendary at 154 & 160.

The biggest names at welterweight Pac, Floyd, Shane, and Berto won't fight him. He'd be stuck fighting bums. While above he gets to fight Cotto, Sergio, Kirkland, Angulo, Pavlik[maybe], Sergei Dzinziruk, Saul Alvarez[when he starts hitting his stride], K9, Vanes, Sturm, Pirog, and even Daniel Jacobs.

All good match up's and if he beat even half the guys on this list he'd get so much respect and start building a solid legacy with some memorable fights.

Plus this is with him just eating lunch and not watching his weight. The guy is a natural WW. I bet Berto, Mosley, Mayweather walk around at 160 or higher. Berto is around 175 I heard.

SO STOP SAYING PAUL WILLIAMS IS A MW. HE CLEARLY IS A LEGIT WW. HE WEIGHS 10 LBS MORE THAN MANNY!!!!
if he can make WW so easily, then why doesn't he campaign at WW?

I'd estimate Floyd walks around at 160lbs at this point naturally.
getting to 147 is child's play for him and puts little to no strain on his central nervous and immune systems.
Then why couldn't he cut down to 144?
