On topic, I'm rooting for Martinez to win this fight and while this doesn't sound great we don't know the dynamics of his body and what is "normal" for him. Sergio is extremely professional and knows how big this fight is for him at this age, I doubt he has just let himself go and neglected his training. I'm sure he will be on weight and healthy come fight time.

I think you can say it goes both ways. 30 days out and Martinez is 176, while Williams is only 5 pounds away from making weight? From expercience i can say that after a run/ workout you can lose 5+ pounds, plus add the fact that Sergio had clothes and shoes on. From the pics ive seen of him lately, he looks in shape. Lets hope his camp is going good. He still has plenty of time.

Well, its not too big of a deal for fighters to weight way more than the weight class they fight at. Martinez, IMO probably weighs about 180+ when he doesnt train. Roberto Duran weighed 180 walking around before he cut weight to 147.
I surmise that Williams WOULD walk around at about 175+ lbs, if he didnt continually train like he normally does; especially for someone who still contends that he can make the 147 lb limit. So, for Williams, training year round is necessary (I believe I heard him say once that the heaviest he weighed when he WASNT training was 177 walking around, dont quote me on that tho)Last edited by size15shoe; 10-26-2010, 03:39 PM.

It won't be a problem... Martinez will easily make the weight. Another example when Arthur Abraham was still fighting in the mw division, he used drop 16 pounds only in the week before the fight...
