Comments Thread For: Roger Mayweather's Assault Trial Kicked To January 24

Roger Mayweather's criminal trial has been postponed for a second time by Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair. Mayweather is facing felony assault charges which stem from an August 2009 brawl with 26-year-old female boxer Melissa St. Vil. The incident took place when Mayweather arrived to an apartment that he owns in Las Vegas, and found St. Vil staying there. Vil alleges that Mayweather punched and choked her until she was nearly unconscious before police arrived to break it up. Mayweather was originally scheduled for trial in August. The charges carry a possible 10-year prison sentence.

This is starting to shape up as good news for Uncle Roger. Probably looking at a motion for partial summary judgment where the judge would then act as arbitrator more so in a civil proceeding than a criminal trial. Roger probably has to cough up $100k and then this thing gets put to bed even before January. Uncle Roger just used about 8 of those 9 lives thanks to a plaintiff that couldn't keep her mouth shut, started exaggerating the incident big time, and lawyered up way too late. Good news for $May keeping an early May 2011 date and fighting either Pacman or waiting till June and fighting Cotto around PR Day Parade in MSG; considering Lil Floyd gets a slap on the wrist on November 9th which will probably happen as well.

Or, there's always the possibility that with so much time going by, that the victim may be unwilling to testify or is changing her story for some reason (*cough* paid off *cough*). From what I read about her, she was already down and out. Probably wouldn't take much to convince her to make it all go away.
It sounds like it's the States' side that continues to postpone. With an unwilling victim, they would only be able to prosecute according to whatever the Police Officer actually witnessed. If the victim is unwilling to cohoberate, it weakens the States case considerably. If that's the case, they will probably offer Roger a plea agreement.
      That's my (conspiracy) theory.

If only the Mayweathers knew this sooner then Floyd would of POSSIBLY have signed a Nov date with Pacman and he wouldnt be set for a trial date for his domestic violence case cause he would be too busy with training..

Ok, I know im just wishful thinking...

              why the continued delay?
              something doesnt look right.
              smells fishy.
maybe the mayweathers are in the process of buying themselves out of trouble again.
if that was me that beatup a female,
i'd be in jail the day the cops intervened and i'd still be in jail hoping to be released

If Roger goes to jail then we can really forget about Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight.

The Domestic Deal is the Prelim!!!
The Main Event, will be the Skating Ring Shooting!

If I was the Shooter (Ocie Harris), I would ask for
                  the WITNESS PROTECTION Program!!!
