Comments Thread For: Audley: Haye is Still The Same Guy Thompson Stopped

2000 Olympic gold medal winner Audley Harrison still views David Haye as the same fighter who was knocked out by tough veteran Carl Thompson in 2004. Harrison says "nothing has changed" about Haye or his style. He challenges Haye for the WBA heavyweight title on November 13 in Manchester.

Well in a way he is right..

Haye gassed badly vs Thompson and got stopped on his feet pretty much

Haye vs Ruiz went heavy for the ko in rounds 1 to 2 and then gassed and wasn't looking great from rounds 3-4. He still has the same problems hence his horribly low punch output in Valeuv/Ruiz fights

Too bad Audley is pushing 40 and not the same guy who won gold a decade ago. Should be an entertaining few rounds with Haye coming out on top, unless David decides to play it safe, like in the Valuev fight. Then it's going to be a 12 round snoozefest.

Audley is still the same guy who recently lost to a taxi driver.

If Audley thinks Haye is the same fighter that lost to Carl Thompson then he is both deluded and deranged.

Deranged because Haye lost to Thompson when he was unable to knock him out. One of the hardest P4P punchers came up against a chin that was granite. He smashed Thompson around the ring for 2 rounds, hitting him with everything he had. If this is Audley's plan - to let Haye smash him up and survive until Haye tires - then he is mad.

Deluded because Haye went into the Thompson fight ****y and unconditioned. He thought he didn't need to train so hard because his class would see him through. He came up against a guy who was in superb condition, and the second Haye gassed, Thompson had the energy (despite getting an absolute beating) to pounce on Haye and pile on the pressure, land big shots, and end the fight. Haye did not lose because he was chinny, he did not get dropped by a single shot, he gassed badly due to lack of conditioning and inexperience and paid the price. If Audley thinks Haye will gas before he has cracked open the big guy's skull, he's lost his mind.

I don't see, hear, or sense anything different in Harrison that gives me any faith he'll be able to at least make Haye work for more than a few rounds. He has proven time and time again, against much lower class opposition than Haye, that "A-Force" Audley Harrison does not have the technical ability or boxing heart to mix it at world championship level professional boxing. This isn't the amateurs, where his pawing, size, and ability to throw the occasional combination was enough to carry him to Olympic gold. This is where fighters without the tools get knocked the f*** out, and that's where he's going.

Haye should win this farily easily. Of course Audley has a punchers chance, but other than his chances are slim to none.

In his last fight, he struggled greatly with journyman Michael Sprott, and was down on all cards heading into the 12th, before knocking out a tired Sprott, and in Dec 2008 Audley was outpointed by unskilled but tough Irish cabbie Martin Rogan over 12.

He has talked alot over the last few weeks, but it's just hot air. We seen how much Shannon Briggs & Kevin Johnson talked heading into the Vitali fight, only to get dominated in the ring.

It's a different story when in the ring.
