I see alot of threads in the past 2 days from pac fans asking why 7 days isnt a good enough window for testing. I wonder why these same fans arent asking why did pac and his team say they agreed to full testing when in truth they did not.
Its really simple. Arum and pac had no real intention of making the fight right now. In the beginning of the year Roach was asked about the floyd fight and he stated back then that manny would need a few more fights before he fought floyd. Oddly enough now that time has played out that is exactly what happened but no one seems to notice that.
After floyd fought shane mosley he stated on national television that if the testing is not up to the day of the fight then there would be no fight. If i heard that then i know Arum and manny heard that. So the question is why did they even try to negotiate. If they were not willing to concede and they knew for a fact floyd wasnt going to budge why did they even bother talking to him?
IMo arum knew from the beginning they were going to fight margo but he also knew the public would not view that in a positive light especially with a floyd fight a possibility. So he basically used floyds name to hype the marg fight. Arum has been in the game a long time and as a professional there are certain ways you go about doing business. On a professional level if you want to do business with someone you talk to them and work out a deal. But that is not what Bob did. He basically tried to play a game of telephone. He told guy A to tell guy B to tell floyd what he was willing to accept. He then proceeded to give floyd a deadline. Really? Was this respectful? Is this the way to get a deal done? No it is not. Anyone would feel direspected by that and that is what bob wanted. Mission accomplished. Floyd did not respond. So now he could put manny in with anyone and use the failed negotiation as a way to hype it. Basically he set up the so called negotiations to fail. I mean if you already know the guys terms and you know you are not going to agree to them why would would you even try to talk to him. Just walk away. But they had to make it seem like they wanted floyd or else no one would accept a replacement fight.
I will let you all be the judge but i would love to hear opinions from both pac and floyd fans about this. Do you think arum and team pac really tried to make the fight or were they just using floyds name?
