Holmes is probably the best fighter America ever produced imo.

He's the only one I see giving either Klitschko any problems. He was masterful.

Not to mention he's almost 40 years old and coming off serious injuries that kept him out for years.

      Wlad is also very mobile.

You need to rewatch the tape.
Vitali is a much better watch than his brother, I'll certainly agree with you on that. Lets be honest though, Chris the Nipple isn't the most nimble fighter out there.

Shut up you smelly plonker. The whole argument is flawed from the beginning, and smacks of sour g****s and excuse making. Why not just admit that Cricket, Golf, Hockey and Ping Pong have deprived us of some truly great HW fighters?

No need to start calling people awful names. I have seen all these guys fight, I'm as big of a fan of the sport that a person can be(attend big fights, little fights, and watch all the fights I can get my hands on). Vitali is okay as I've stated a few times but knocking out less than stellar opponents doesn't do much for me.

any of our african american posters from "the hood" here?

Boxers typically (although not always) come from rough back grounds, poor areas. They learn to fight to defend themselves and their family.

Tell me this, how bad is gun crime there really? (serious question, ive never been, hollywood movies which are never accurate is all i have to go on)

Is it possible that people from the hood dont see any reason to take up boxing cos no matter how good u are at it, someone can stand 20m away and shoot u, so they buy a gun instead of learning to fight?

Your judgment and lack of impartiallity have prompted the name calling - you think horse racing was bigger than the NFL in the 70s!!!

You say that most white fighters don't impress you because they don't know the sweet science and then you go on to describe your favorite type of fighter and that is exactly what Vitaly is.

Arreola maybe is not the best but you are forgetting that neither is Vitaly now, he is 39, with two knee surgeries, a back surgery, and a shoulder surgery, that should put things in perspective as to how good he really is.

You posts smack of racist double standards- I call them as I see them.

the majority of quality heavyweights have always been from the states, especially black heavyweights. these days the best big men in the US get into other sports, kids want to be in the nba or nfl, not boxing like they did back in the day. bcuz of that the only big men who try boxing do it cuz they cant copmpete anywhere else, all the quality athletes are in other sports.

the sport is really depending on this to change, like i said the quality heavyweights have always been from the states. we had lewis and the klitschkos recently come out of europe but thats rare and its unlikely that there will be quality europeans to carry the torch when the klitschkos retire. chagaev, maskaev, ibragimov etc are low level athletes too. none of these guys would be contenders in any other era much less champions.

the HW division needs to be revived, even more so than the rest of boxing. i dont care if they are black or white but americans need to get their shit together, im european myself.

I'm not African American but for a good portion of my life I lived in Detroit. If you don't know about Detroit, it is the murder capital of the country. IMO, kids don't take up boxing as much because they are either playing football or on the courts with a basketball. I don't live in Detroit any longer but I travel there all the time and even in the dead of winter kids have a basketball or football in their hands.

As for back in the day, I can't speak first hand but neither of those sports were as big. There was less courts back in the day I'd imagine and football really wasn't an option. Instead boxing was a safe place for a kid to go to stay off the streets, learn self defense, and also a place where a kid could get mentored by an adult and become a man. These places don't exist much anymore though. I think there is only a few boxing gyms left in the city. Even the world famous Kronk closed.

Do you think that most big athletic E. Euros go into boxing? They also have other much more lucrative sports that are far more popular to get into - hockey, soccer, basketball, MMA, power lifting, etc...
