At the Deportivo San Damian in San Martin Texmelucan, Puebla, Mexico, Sammy Guti�rrez (28-5-2, 19 KOs) stopped Luis Carrillo (10-2-1, 9 KOs) in the third round to win the interim-WBA minimumweight title. Guti�rrez decked him Carrillo in the third and finished the job once Carillo beat the count.
