CANCELLED???: Joan Guzman vs Christopher Fernandez

Alright, so there was one article out there saying that Joan Guzman vs Christopher Fernandez had been cancelled but is it really?

In boxrec it shows that the fight is still on and I can't find anything else on the web saying that this fight is indeed cancelled. Does anyone know anything about this????

Probably Canceled because Guzman is making a mockery of this sport. That guy he was going to fight has never beaten anyone slightly good and has 10 losses.

Also, if you go to TELEFUTURA they also have it as its still on. I am thinking that the fight is still going to happen. I hope it does since I want to see Argenis Mendez fight that night as well. We shall see....

The reality is that this fight is canceled by money problems between Golden Boy and the local promoter.

        Here the source:

        • The comeback fight of former junior featherweight and junior lightweight titlist Joan Guzman (30-0-1, 17 KOs), who planned to return as a junior welterweight after well-documented problems making lightweight, is off. Guzman was supposed to face Chris Fernandez on a Telefutura card Nov. 5 in New York. However, Golden Boy pulled the plug on the show because the investor it had lined up to bankroll the show didn't come up with the money by the deadline. Instead, Golden Boy said it is moving the show to Puerto Rico, where junior welterweight Jose Cotto is slated to headline.

          Not a surprise.

          Guzman-Spadafora should happen.

          The ultimate irrelevant battle.

yeah, i was expecting it to get cancelled i think guzman was originally offered to fight ortiz, instead of fernandez but peterson agreed before guzman. so i think they are lining up guzman for ortiz for a fight next year.

My advice, don't ever read boxrec's schedule. Or at least don't take it seriously. It is a joke.
