  • Hopkins should be the Ring magazine champion

Taylor is one of my favorite fighters, but he did not win the fight with Hopkins. The last round scoring by one of the judges was ridiculous. The result should have been a draw.

I think Hopkins should have been kept as the Ring magazine champion. The Ring is not an official organization and it could have taken the unfair scoring of the fight into consideration.
I can understand Hopkins frustration with the Ring magazine...

Concerning the last-round scoring, read my post here:

What you're saying is pretty ridiculous, no offence. The Ring does not play politics and is not about to wade into any so-called "controversies" like this. Hopkins is playing politics here as bad as any alphabet organization, so why should they listen to him?

I have read your post in the other thread, and I disagree with you. First, the compustat numbers have clearly shown that Hopkins beat Taylor by a huge margin in round 12. This was clear with or without Lampley comments. Second, Tarver did complaint strongly after the Jones fight, and I remember this very well since I was rooting for Tarver. Lastly, I also think that rankings should have nothing to do with politics, but rather they should serve to give some fair recognition to the people in the sport. Hopkins has done a great deal more to be the Ring champion than Taylor did, even though I do think Taylor is the natural successor to Hopkins' throne.

I'm sorry Nautilus... But this is boxing, and Taylor won the fight.

It wasn't as if it was a landslide victory for Bernard, and he got stitched up by the judges. It was an extremely close fight, and Hopkins should have done more in the 1st 6 rounds.

So the ring doesn't take robberies in to account?

Maybe so, but look at the punch stats and look at the scoring for other rounds and you'll see a lot went to Hopkins when the numbers were not in his favour. It's only because this is the "last round" that people think about it so much. Also, Tarver may have complained but his whining was not nearly to the degree of what Hopkins is doing...he certainly never asked The Ring to recognize him as champion instead.

The Ring can't decide to agree with certain decisions and not with others. Hopkins has convinced everyone that this was the worst robbery in the history of boxing. Certainly there have been much, much worse. Should the Ring not have recognized Mosley's "win" over DLH in their second fight? How about Beyer's bull**** DQ win over Green in their first fight?

But the Hopkins vs Taylor fight wasn't a robbery.

Any fight that is as close in scoring as this one was can't be called a "Robbery".

No Taylor is not one of your favorite fighters, if he was you would've been happy that he won the fight. Only a Bitchkins crybaby fan will bring up the 12 round & not mention Jerry Roth. You are making excuses for Bitchkins. This thing is getting old, so stop crying for Bitchkins. Wait for the rematch, when your Bitchkins gets knocked out & retires.

If he really won than it would not be an issue you don't take the title from a long time champ like that , taylor is a good young fighter and will most certainly be a legit champ in the future as hopkins has been but hopkins won or at least it should have been a draw and taylor will be the one KOed in the rematch hell he would have been KOed in the first fight if they still went 15 rounds.
