We are ranking them based on their careers though right? Not on hypothetical matchups. At least, that is what I was doing. If I was handling Louis I would not want to see him in against Vitali.Comment

Ohhh, I read it like #1 as in personal favorite. It's a good job I didn't put Moorer, a personal fav of mine in spite of everything, hahha.
In that case, most would dump on your choice for résumé reasons, accomplishments and challenges met will mean more than an imagined head to head for a lot of people. It's reasonable to assume Vitali could hang with any heavyweight in history, though, IMO. He's a thinking man's brute, awesome cerebrally, which is why I think he's still in a vein of prime, ie. despite slowing, tearing down physically, I think his ring IQ, which was already strong, gets better and better and if a test was put in front of him at this late stage in his career, I'm sure he could react to it.
I tend to prefer looking at things from a personal favorites angle, then people aren't required to be rational, usually results in more interesting choices/convo (not that Louis is an unusual selection, just happens I'm partial to him, but generally speaking).Comment

I rate Joe Louis as the best heavyweight ever, although I put Wlad and Vitali in the top 10. No question about it - they're all time greats. Speed, size, skills, ring intelligence. They have it all.Mine is Vitali Klitschko.
Dr. Eisenfaust.
I consider him the most brutal and vicious champion I've ever seen. Size, speed, intelligence, power, toughness.
I don't think anyone could take too many rounds off of him, much less beat him or stop him.
People can call Briggs old all they want, but realize Vitali was a year older.
All opinions are welcome.
Tribute to the greatest.

Plz don't. I find your esoteric approach most stimulating. If you want to make a full on list, I'll read the entire damn thing. This thread is obviously subjective, but the more detailed and substantial the explanation the obviously better read.
Which is what we're here to do.
I think if you made a thread on Vitali within the parameters you mentioned, the general boxing public would greatly benefit, because they're obviously being overlooked.
Being a brute is one thing, being a thinking man's brute with a high IQ is something totally different. Vitali is wrongly categorized as a petty murderer when in fact his profile is more suited to a sophisticated mass murderer in the vein of Jack The Ripper.
A methodical, surgical, evil, pit of hell demon.
respect.....
