Holmes had 20 succesful defenses (15 by stoppage). He had a record 8 straight stoppage defenses.

James "Bonecrusher" Smith had knocked out Frank Bruno before fighting Holmes and then would go on to become WBA champion by knocking out Tim Witherspoon. You're also actually criticizing him for fighting Leon Spinks? The former Heavyweight champion who had beaten Ali? Really?

In all, Holmes successfully defended against 7 future or former champions and 8 undefeated fighters.

Good point Larry, this HW era is pretty typical of HW boxing and though the K-bros are criticized now I think when they are gone they will be praised just like Lennox is now even though ppl were critical of him when he was active.
