I can't imagine a fight being any worse, and I've seen plenty of bad ones. Certainly the worst ever on HBO. Stevens mostly sucks, but what was Dirrell's excuse?

Fight was horrible no doubt.
Stevens fought in the same region as my old gym.
I had friends who fought him in the amateurs and what people don't realize is that Stevens was a complete monster in the amateurs. Everyone involved in boxing knew who he was, and he was absolutely demolishing everyone.
He was stronger and had faster hands than everyone. Obviously that didn't translate to a high level as a professional, but at the time there was good reason for Dirrel to fight him like that.Comment

Frietas_Raheem was the worst fight I ahve even saw on HBO, I will take non action running, over grappling (with no punching) and falling all over the place.
Atleast the guys running around look clean as opposed to the sloppy mess that was Frietas-Raheem.Comment

Yeah if thats the Raheem fight Im thinking of I agree with you where he was falling all over the place and wrestling haha
But I will say the Dirrell Stevens is up there right with it..Dirrell threw like 5 punches per round while fleeing nonstop and Stevens followed him all over the place if I remember correctly. Dirrell was not cut out to be a fighter.Comment

Jermain Taylor-Cory Spinks was worse to me...but yeah the fight was pretty bad...
Curtis fell way off...he's only headlining local shows right now...he's slow and his power hasn't translated into the pro game...and it doesn't help he doesn't really train...Comment

Oh so we're making our own definitions now?
I'm not as smart or as creative as you, so I just follow the real one:
Slick:
1.
smooth or slippery; sleek.
2.
sly
3.
ingenious; cleverly devised
4.
deftly executed and having surface appeal or sophistication, but shallow or glib in content; polished but superficial.
If you look up Andre Dirrell in the dictionary, you get a picture of "slick" right next to it.Last edited by DARKSEID; 10-18-2010, 07:58 PM.Comment

Yeah, John Scully used to tell me that Stevens could really fight. But the Brinkley fight ended any hope that he would ever be a top pro.Fight was horrible no doubt.

I went to fight about 3 years ago and he was on it vs an old man. The guy had a pretty terrible record and he was obviously there to get knocked out.
The guy looked so pathetic people were laughing when he walked to the ring.
For almost every round of the fight he beat the heck out of Stevens. All he did was move side to side and pop his jab and slip a right in here and there. Eventually the ref gave Stevens a questionable TKO. But after that fight I knew Stevens was never going to be anything.
His opponents were so scared of him in the amateurs he didn't step his game up when he turned pro. The guy learned nothing new since turning pro.Comment

It was a BAD fight. Not the worst ever, but man it was horrible. Dirrell ran, and didn't pretend to do otherwise.Comment
