  • I don't think Pacquiao will dominate Margarito

The popular prediction is Pacquiao whoops him and ends up with stopping him late.

But im starting to think its gonna be more competitive than what some make it out to be. Manny will definitely slow down because of the added weight. The question is how slow is he gonna be against margarito.

Margarito is a hungry fighter. Getting ko'd and suspended, he has more to prove. A hungry fighter is a dangerous fighter. And from what i've been seeing, he's been training like a mad man.

I still think pacquiao beats him in a war

i don't know why a lot of people are acting like margarito isn't a threat. he is a very live dog in this fight.

I agree with you about Margarito but I believe that he may pull the upset

the pac hate clouds the people's judgement. they're already discrediting him if he wins...

yes, there are more threats out there that pacquiao could have faced. but margarito isn't gonna be a walk in the park..

I agree here!!I don't think Pacman packs Mosley's type of power & he gets hit alot & Margarito throws a lot!!Margarito usually has loads of stamina as well,so instead of slowing down,he stays strong!!I expect Pacman to start fast while Margarito just keeps coming forward firing away & hitting Pacman on occation!!Then I think moving into the middle rounds Margarito closes the gap & powers down the last stretch of the fight!!Maybe Roach will be forced to throw in the towel,Margarito upset!!

people put too much weight on margarito's last two fights. he was mentally ****ed when he fought mosley, and he was coming off a long lay off when he faced garcia.

i still think pac beats him, but it ain't gonna be a shut out. margarito's gonna be more competitive than cotto, oscar, or clottey.

i would actually be more surprised if pacquiao ko's him.

the safe bet for me is pacquiao by UD. your'e right, pacquiao doesn't have mosley-type power.

if pacquiao is able to hurt margarito, then margarito is fucked.

I like your neutrality, and even though most of us had picking Pacquiao at the start, as time passes it seems more and more people are open to the idea of Margarito actually being competitive, if not at least putting up a fight and not going quietly into the night.

Clottey was inactive for most of the fight against Pacquiao, and again, he DID land his shots and gave Pacquiao some bruises.

What I think people have to consider is that, while Margarito will be most likely more offensive-minded than Clottey, it will leave him more open to get countered...and probably not in single punches, but in combinations. Add to that, Pacquiao has speed. It's probably not so much that Margarito gets hurt because of Pacquiao's power (because he has decent power at welterweight), but it'll probably be because he doesn't see the punches coming.

I keep coming back to Hatton, a pressure fighter who would come in and just throw these 1 punch KO type of punches, and Pacquiao was able to deal with Ricky's quick footwork and relentless, albeit reckless, pressure. Cotto and Mosley made Margarito look slow. Pacquiao is a fast southpaw. You take Margarito (who is considered slow) and Pacquiao...it should be safely assumed that chance favors Pacquiao with all the attributes he possesses.

Will he get hurt? Probably. Might we see him in trouble at some points? Sure, can't rule it out. Should Pacquiao come in as the favorite? Most definitely.

PS: I'm not sure if anyone's noticed this, but Pacquiao's last 4 opponents had trainers they weren't very familiar with (five if you count Margarito)...

Clottey had Lenny DeJesus because his trainer couldn't get a VISA. (hmm...?)

Cotto had some young guy (can't remember his name) who had only worked with him for the Clottey fight.

Hatton had Floyd Mayweather, Sr. who had only worked with him for the Malignaggi fight.

De la Hoya went up and added a new trainer to his long line of trainers throughout his career by using Nacho's services.

Just something else to think about. Margarito shouldn't come in as the favorite even by fight night...

wouldn't suprise me if margo gives pac a tough time. pac is underestimating margarito big time and he's not training seriously.
