      who said that?

i think it's because of how they hear someone who don't make weight can take punches better.

but i don't think they take into consideration that a lot of that has to do with the guy cutting less weight too.

Barrett hasnt won since 2008 when he beat Tye Fields...
Valuev hasnt won since 2008 when he robbed Evander Holyfield...
Ruiz...won once since 2008 when he beat Adnan Serin...

So in his 3 fights, his 3 glorious achievements, he has defeated fighters with 1 win in the last 2 years. Now, 2 years seems like a small time frame, but remember all of these guys are over 37 years old. He now will fight Fraudley another old man. Its insane Haye is ranked so high with these wins or how people think Haye stands a chance with a klitschko. How do these wins prep him for the Klitschkos?
Haye is ranked #3 vy default, because everyone who was raned ahead of him had the balls to fight the Klitschkos and got destroyed, so they fell on the rankings. Haye is #3 not because of his accomplishments, but because of the Klitschkos accomplishments.

muscle doesn't help your skin not get cut.

muscle doesn't help your chin take a better punch.

yes it does..gaining muscles in the neck=helps absord those blows-thats why boxers do neck exercises

gaining muscles in the legs=better foundation-thats why boxers focus on leg exercises

damn i can tell the people who've never boxed

i understand how yeah bigger legs and stronger neck will help but i think it's minimal at best.

chin is just something you're born with.

They do, they amortize the shock that is created on impact. Case in point a famous medball exercise where a trainer throws a medball in the stomach of the boxer, bigger abdanomials help the fighter prevent the penetration of the shock into the innards. Same goes with muscle, a bigger neck, trap and back muscles(posterior chain) will help absorb the punches better by not letting the head shake. Bigger and stronger legs will help the fighter keep standing as well.
