No, it's because Ibragimov schooled him and took his belt. Then Wlad schooled Ibragimov and unified

Actually no. That was right after Briggs beat Liachvich. The Briggs that fought Vitali was in way better shape than that version. Steward just put it out there that Briggs was a dangerous opponent. They were never supposed to fight him. Steward also said that this would be the hardest fight of Vitali's career. Was he right?Comment

gotta say...
its admirable how often big vit is looking to fight...he has enough money but still wants to fight the best
thought adamek was looking to return in march as well...they could make that fight but vit would end adamek's careerComment

To the guy saying only Vit wants to fight these guys...what are you talking about.
Wlad just tried to get Valuev (surgery) and Haye (*****) to fight on december 11. In fact I dont know of an opponent other than Povetkin (who only Wlad is in) and possibly Solis (who I hear Vitali actually mention) that both arent interested in. I do think people want to see Vitali vs. Valuev more than Wlad vs. Valuev just because Vitali is taller and because Valuev hasnt won since 2008 and Wlad needs to be concentrating on his legacy since he has the chance to go down as one of the best of all time. Let Vit mop up the remaining scraps.Comment

No one has ever put Briggs away. He's been TKO'd twice but never KO'd. This fight should have been stopped in the 8th round - it was appalling that it wasn't - and if it had been, that would also have been a TKO. Briggs showed incredible heart, and deserves all the credit in the world for his courage. But he took a terrible beating, and to pretend that Vitali doesn't hit hard, when he broke Brigg's orbital bone, tore his bicep and gave him concussion, is ridiculous. Vitali has never had great one-punch power - almost all his stoppages have been by TKO, unlike Wlad, who has much more one-punch power; but Vitali has tremendous cumulative power from multiple concussive blows.Last edited by Dave Rado; 10-18-2010, 08:03 PM.Comment
