Read the Fighting Words article by David P. GreismanEver heard of Steve Smoger? He's an ATG referee and do you know why?
Cuz' he understands the sport and understands that its not his job to get in the way of what a figher is trying to do.
Remember all the **** Briggs talked? And did you see how he was determined not to let Vitali k.o him?
The ref rightfully interpreted this as Briggs deciding to finish the fight how he saw fit.
If it was up to you ****** we would never see any great fights because the minute one guy has two good straight rounds in a row you'd cry for them to stop it. You guys are seriously gay and need to take up another sport.
What I saw last night was inspirational, Briggs showed that not all American fighters are quitters (Arreola), no hopers (Kevin Johnson) or canvass kissing bums (Chambers).
Instead of crying about it, you should be giving him props.
You pussies wouldn't have lasted 1 year in old school boxing fandom. If it was up to the modern boxing fan, Ali/Frazier 3 would've only gone 6 rounds.
See what I did there?
Briggs threw 316 punches over 12 rounds, 137 of those are power punches. He landed 73 punches, 39 of those were power punches.
Briggs threw 26 punches a round, while Klitschko landed 25 punches a round, 14 of those were power punches.
I would agree with you if Briggs wasn't doing his best impression of a heavy bag. Briggs was just in there to not get knocked out, and although that is admirable when the fighter is taking that much punishment and not fighting back it becomes the ref and the corners job to stop the fight. Briggs payed the brutal price.Comment

When Briggs is walking around with God forbid slurred speech, people will say he took too many shots in this fight and throughout his career...
He's done at the top, should just hang em up or he'll look ****** like Evander...Comment

Ali-Frazier 3 was hellishly competetive dude
are you seriously comparing those two fights?
steve smoger would have stopped the fight in between rounds anywhere after the 8th
he would have been talking ceaselessly with the cornermen and the doctor
steve smoger will only let the punishment come in competative fights
briggs didnt belong in the same building as vitali and he wasnt even throwing punches
briggs is still in the hospital, OP
he'll probably never fight again
he recieved life changing punishment.
his face was broken
his ear drum got busted
his nose was broken
his bicep was torn early in the fight (most reports sayit was the right bicep in the first round)
is that what you want?
do you think guys who go up against insurmountable opposition to challenge for world titles should fight until the death?

i still havent watched the fight but i am glad that shannon briggs made it of the hospital in good health and i am glad that he was able to go 12 rounds with the champ vitali klitschko nad to think about it briggs probably did show a ton of heart by taking a beating and still staying on his feet afterall we all know briggs is way past his best and in a era where even the younger supposedly dangerous heavyweights like david tua and chris arreola cant even stay in shape this is better than those guys getting a shot at something they dont deserve!!Ali-Frazier 3 was hellishly competetive dude
