What you guys dont know is that De La Hoya is trying to turn boxing into a one promotion sport similar to Dana White's UFC. This can be good and bad.

Good: All the fighters would fight each other no mandatory payments and shit like that.

Bad: The fighters barely get paid anything like the UFC fighters.

Here is Arum's view on De La Hoya's attempt to stronghold boxing.

This was in an article here a few weeks ago:

As far as the twitter messages, check out this quote from Oscar:

@danawhite you have always done a great job, goldenboy has there hands tied up because of other promoters soon I will get same valuation.
Seems pretty clear what the goal is.

The funniest thing about this is the fact people don't understand that there CAN ACTUALLY be more than one company. Do u guys think UFC was the first MMA organization? Considering it's already pretty widely known that Top Rank has better (more popular) fighters now, if Top Rank decided to do it too (which they can, which most people forget) they may even do better than Golden Boy. However it seems Oscar has been recruiting all the young guys... Hmm... At least in that case, the pay-cuts won't be as insulting.

I don't see anything bad with that. Paying them millions is exactly
the reason why they turn into primadonnas overnight. It's like they
                      own the sport.

Boxing will never become remotely like the UFC/MMA. Why?
Because of the 12 round vs 3 round matches. Fans would still
be enjoying the fights. What this would accomplish is prevent
fighters from avoiding the fights fans want to see.
