You know what would help the boxing out a lot right now......

Boxers making more appearances in TV ads, commercials etc.

I know that sounds kinda lame.....but I think the sport would benefit tremedously if fighters such as Floyd, Manny, Amir and others made more appearances in Nike, Sprite, McDonalds and other popular commercials/TV ads.

I think more people (casual fans) would follow the sport more if there was a constant reminder as to who our stars are.

It seems the NFL, NBA, Baseball and just about every other sport (besides boxing) does an excellent job of marketing there stars. It seems that at all times we know who the elite athletes are in other sports due to the way they are marketed.

Hell I have never watched poker, but I know who Phil Ivey and others are. Same **** with baseball, golf and other sports.

Thats a good point. This is exactly how boxing became mainstream in germany. The two evil overlords were making appearances in every single instance they were invited, from advertising chocolate cakes to giving their voices to cartoon characters, to appearing in tv shows and movies.

What's funny is Mike Tyson is making more appereances etc than anyone else right now in the sport.

From guest apperances in movies, tv shows and having his own show.....I'm surprised more active fighters havent taken this approach.

Look at what appearing on WWE, dancing with the stars and other small **** has done for Floyd Mayweather.

Basically If the more you get your name out there to different audiances.....the more you make yourself known amongst potential fans/ppv buyers.

Ohh and one last thing....look at Wresters such as John Cena and the Rock. So people know them for the same reasons I mentioned above.

I agree, boxers need to do more commercials these days.

I miss the Marvin Hagler deodorant commercials when I was a kid:

I miss the George Foreman Meineke commercials:

          Tyson and Diet Pepsi:

          Holyfield and Burger King:
