Perception vs Reality: Briggs vs Vitali

One victory over a washed up fighter and the ******s have emerged from the woodwork proclaiming Vitali as the GOAT.

This is not a hate thread. Wlad and Vitali are both very good. They would beat many great fighters of the HW golden era or at least push them all the way.....no doubt in my mind.....and no i am not racist against European fighters, or Easter Europeans as some of the ******s on here might say after this post. My heritage is from a certain country in Eastern Europe and i am a dual citizen.

But everyone needs to chill the **** out with the result of this fight. Perception changes when you get old, washed up and slow. Vitali isn't any faster than Lennox Lewis...he isn't a speed demon. It just seems that way to Briggs because he fought Lennox over 12 years ago when he was fit and 220 pounds. He has now fought Vitali at 260+ pounds......he himself has slowed down, so ofcourse he thinks Vitali is super quick. His perception has changed.

Lewis KO'd Briggs insde of 5 rds. Briggs didn't have any defense then and he still doesn't. His defense is his chin......which is phenomenal. Vitali did what he was supposed to do against a washed up, ageing, no defense slow ass fighter. It hardly warrants sudden proclamations of GOAT status.

The biggest problem Wlad and Vitali have is that they are unfortunate to be competing in perhaps the weakest HW era in terms of skill (defense and ability), speed and conditioning ever. Sure these guys they are beating are big and strong...but they really do suck!!!

Vitali and Wlad prob aren't even in the top 15 greatest HW's of all time, let alone boxers across all WD's period. Fighting and beating guys of Briggs calibre no matter how dominant the victory is doesn'ty do a great deal for their historical standing. unfortunately their isn't much of an alternative.

    That is all.
