Why Is Steve Cunningham So Inactive?

After defeating Marco Huck it was nearly a year before he fought Tomas Adamek, a fight he very well may have won if he weren't so rusty going in.

After Adamek it was 7 months before he fought Braithwaite. After that it was 11 more months before he fought Troy Ross.

Now it has been 4 months since the Ross fight and not so much as a story about a potential opponent.

It's very surprising that a guy who is probably the most physically fit fighter in the whole sport is also one of the most inactive.

I remember hearing about a potential Cruisweight tourney in which he would be involved.. but how long can he sit around waiting for that to develop when his best years continue to pass him by?

Isn't he going to be in the Cruiser Super 6?

Although with the recent developments of the SMW Super 6, who knows if they are going to move forward with that tourney.

I mentioned that in my post.

They've been talking about doing it for the better part of a year now and nothing has come about.

This guy can't afford to waste another year hoping for something that may not even happen.

Cunningham is the kind of fighter who will fight anyone anywhere, so it's doubly sad that we don't get to see him in the ring more often.

His fights with Wlodarcyk (2), Adamek and Huck were classics. I don't think there is any other Cruiser who has taken 3 fights that tough in his career.

**** he has also beaten Guillermo Jones who showed recently that he still has something in the tank.

This is simple. When Don King was his promoter he kept Cunningham on Ice. Even the last fight Don King was going to promote for Cunningham he let it fall through at the last minute.

Now that he's with his new promoter he can't make no move until he see's if this Cruiser Super Six going to happen.

Cunningham is talented as hell, and even though he's a two time champion his career been a waste so far.

From what I understand, Cunningham will be fighting in the co-main event of a Dec 18th Sauerland card to open the cruiserweight Super Six. HIs opponent will likely be Denis Lebedev.
