Comments Thread For: Omar Sheika Poised To Retire After Latest Defeat

This past Friday in Montreal, a ten round unanimous decision loss to former WBC light heavyweight champ Adrian Diaconu finally convinced a less-stubborn Omar Sheika to utter those painful words those closest to him have longed to hear for years. After a career full of brutal brawls, trips to emergency rooms and attempts to rebuild his reputation as a credible contender, Sheika has had enough.

        Sad to hear.

He was in the Diaconu fight - made the shark take a knee. Sheika's power is there but the mobility and speed is gone.

Wish him luck in the future.

For those that haven't seen the 'Ring Life' episodes that HBO did before his fight with Roy Jones Jr.

Sheika could have done better or probably could have even scored a KO against Diaconu since he hurt Diaconu a couple of times & even made him take a knee..But Sheika was not throwing enough..

Good Luck to Sheika in the future...It's a shame cause I've never seen Sheika in a bad or boring fight, at least all the 1'ns I've seen were good & exciting!!! I remember the 1st time I saw Sheika fight was on "Tuesday Night Fights" on USA Network at the Blue Horizon in Philly...He used to come into the ring with the *********** Keffiyeh..

Good way to go out. He took a former champ the distance and dished out some punishment as well.

Jones ruined him, took his soul.

I wish him well in his future was a good note to go out on dropping Diancou etc etc.

For someone who's been in so many wars and taking a whole lot of punishment you'd think his face would be all busted up. He does sound a little punchy doesn't he? His willingness to brawl and trade punches and lack of defence made him fun to watch, but I think it's a good idea for him to retire.
