There's a lot of money in the UK and you don't ever have to leave because the casual fans will buy into any hype the media feed them.
Calzaghe didn't become a UK legend fighting bums. If anything, he was headed into relative obscurity on the 'bum' trail, the UK didn't even really give much of a toss about Calzaghe until after Lacy and moreso after Kessler. Any other view is revisionism.

Their career trajectories aren't really comparable.

Haye needs some defining fights at heavyweight to get that kind of 'UK legend' status of a Hatton or a Calzaghe or even a Hamed. Hatton had Tszyu, Calzaghe had his defining night against Kessler, those fights were the ones the British general public took note of. Sure, Haye beat Mormeck and Maccarinelli, but the general public weren't really paying attention then and they think of him as a HW not a cruiser, he won't pass into UK legend status on those wins - the Valuez fight was just a glorified freakshow and not something really that people are going to remember that much down the line.

Haye can't make his highest coin without the Klitschkos. That's an almost certified fact. He needs them to make it. Haye doesn't even have many fights left, anyway.

Then maybe Haye could fight Holyfield, LMAO. Evander will probably still be around. That'd be his equivalent to Calzaghe fighting Roy.

Haye's never going to be thought of across the UK like a Hatton. Nor a Calzaghe.

UNLESS he fights a Klitschko and beats him. He doesn't even need both. He could beat one, lose to the other and still be a hero.

He's generating some interest at the moment. That interest will wane unless he steps up. The Klitschko fights are the only ones that can really define him as a UK sporting brand.

Purse splits are decided by how much revenue you can generate not how long you've been champ. Haye is a big draw now that's why Klitschko's want some of the UK pie.

All time greats fight and beat the best of there era (Ali, Lennox, Joe Louis, etc) Without defeating Haye the Klitschkos will not have defeated the 2 best fighters of there era (Lewis and Haye).

Hey Gayeboy, your favorite coward just admitted that the Klitschkos offered him 50/50 and he thought that was not reasonable.

Now if either of them wants to be a World Champion and challenge for Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Rocky Marciano's belt...they're gonna have to take a chance and challenge the Champion David haye. It's that simple
