Comments Thread For: Alexander Povetkin Stops Teke Oruh in Five Rounds

After approximately five hard-fought rounds it looked like a pretty tough job for probably the finest Russian heavyweight around Alexander Povetkin (20-0, 15 KOs). But everything ended suddenly for the "African Prince" Teke Oruh (now 14-3-1, 6 KOs), when WBO #3, WBA #6, WBC #9 and The Ring #3 ranked heavyweight hit him with the monstrous yet short right hand to the whiskers, which had the Nigerian down and out instantly at the very end of the fifth round. Official time of stoppage was 3:00. Povetkin displayed a good shape but had some problems with Oruh's right hand, which tagged him several times in rounds four and five. BScene saw it 50-46 at the time of stoppage.

Which means he's not improving. He had NO problems with Friday Ahunyana right hand back in 2006, and Friday is a similar but better fighter than Oruh.

I didn't see the fight, but does it look like Povetkin can still fight every month?

        Teke Oruh?

        WTF?

He was slow close to the top, then he goes backwards.

        I don't get that.

I don't know why they are stalling so much and deliberately losing his ranking.

His trainer is a mentally disturbed man who once took a gun to Donny Lalonde's apartment with the intention of murdering him, because LaLonde had let him go as his trainer.

            Povetkin-Solis should be next.

            Or Povetkin-Arreola.

Lets see if this kid can hang with the big boys.

If he can't beat the victims(or future victims)of the Klits, they should never metion his name as opponent again.

Yes, I'd like to see Povetkin and Haye in with some of the Klitschkos' better former opponents like Chambers, Thompson, Peter, and Arreola.

Tony Thompson- Povetkin or Solis actually sounds ideal.
