Comments Thread For: Random Acts of Ring Rambling: Cotto, Tarver, More

If boxing fans had their way, WBA junior middleweight boss Miguel Cotto would be in the gym right now, looking to follow up his June win over Yuri Foreman with one more bout before the bell tolls on 2010.

After his shoulder surgery He said very clear that He was taking the rest of the year off. Then Uncle Snob started talking about fighting Jr and HE considered coming back for a Big fight in Dec, but after Jr back off He said. I'm not coming back this year unless is a BIG $$$$ fight; very understandable for a guy recovering from surgery.
I look forward to seen him fighting Pacquiao after his tuneup fight.

love this site and i see many pr cotto fans so i have to say, being half puerto rican myself and a fan of boxing, cotto is a bum!! he is washed up and he doesnt stand a chance with any of the top fighters at 154. his last fight was against a dude in a wheelchair and it seems he is just hand picking winnable fights to get good paydays. from a mans standpoint , go cotto get that money, from a fan's.. give up cotto, your a paper champ and you will get dethroned once you fight a real champ. but what do i know, im just half puerto rican.

This article states very similar things I've said in past posts, regarding 3 points:

                1. You can't neccessarily count Briggs out - Ex: Briggs vs Liakhovich - Briggs was losing virtually every round until the last second of round 12, where he knocked Sergei out of the ring and won by K.O.

                2. Tarver was doing better as a commentator, and his last few fights were very unimpressive. And, he hasn't fought in over a year and half, so I don't expect him to look too impressive in this fight either.

                3. Of all the injuries Dirrell could have used, why would he claim neurological problems if it wasn't true. If he just needed an excuse, he could have certainly gone with the old "back injury" excuse (or any number of excuses that would have prevented him from being able to continue the tournament), and not something as serious as a brain injury (which will be taken very seriously by boxing commisions).

I think I like this Thomas Gerbasi.

WHAT! First, you better have your head examined because you are not making any sense. Second, have your DNA tested because somebody lied to you. You are 0% Puerto Rican!
