most of joe's title defenses were against guys who didn't deserve a title shot so how can he talk? calzaghe's first 2 defenses were against branko sobot and juan carlos giminez ferrari. sad! it took calzaghe 9 years to finally face a top guy in lacy. only 8 more years till we get haye vs a 47 year old vitali! the countdown has started.

just because you are a former champ doesn't mean you deserve a shot. almost all the former champs he fought were badly faded jones, eubank, woodhall, brewer. mitchell(early stoppage) and reid(gift decision) were still relevant contenders but the result of both fights is highly controversial.Comment

The Mitchell fight was not an early stoppage. Old Al Bernstein bitched and bitched about it because he hates Calzaghe for the same reason as you do, daggum.
And Calzaghe clearly deserved to win the Reid fight. Joe was robbed of a UD by the most incompetent judge in Europe, Paul Thomas (same one who scored Dimitrenko-Chambers as a draw and had M'Baye winning Kotelnik-M'Baye II).Comment

JOE CALZAGHE is a living legend and deserves the title of LIVING LEGEND in his sport;i really don't understand why he is so hated.
I'm sure the most people that talk **** on his record they have never seen his performances.
He dominated EUBANK(former 2 division world champ)for the vacant WBO supermiddleweight world title because STEVE COLLINS avoided JOE,he dominated ROBIN REID(former WBC supermiddleweight world champ and underrated fighter,watch SVEN OTTKE completely outclassed by ROBIN but they robbed his fight),SVEN OTTKE avoided JOE because he wanted retire himself undeafeted,JOE ruined the carrer of JEFF LACY(IBF and IBO world champ at time and undeafeted) in embarassing way,JOE dominated MIKKEL KESSLER(WBC and WBA super world champ at time and also undeafeted),JOE showed his greatness also vs BYRON MITCHEL(2 time WBA world champ) suffering a KD getting up and putting MITCHEL KD to stop him in the same round(the second,amazing!!!).I can go on talking about when he destroyed both eyes of SHEIKA,etc......
JOE fought all supermiddleweights of his era and JOE defeated all,HOPKINS did the same in the middleweight division but he wasn't able to beat all.Comment
