But I don't know how effective Margarito will be with the game plan. Sure he's concentrating and working hard as ever, but there's only so much you can change in a fighter for two months.

I expect Margarito to be overtrained and dumbfounded once in the ring with Pacquiao. His boxing IQ is nowhere near Manny's. I give him a puncher's chance though and that's it.
Pacquiao doesn't have a boxing iq.

C, thats what team pacquiao wants margarito to do. Pressuring pacquiao is what they want margarito to do, big nono because of all the fighters who pressured pacquiao led to there downfall. Only way to stop pacquiao is if he pressures margarito early rounds. Pacquiaos going to play it smart by boxing early rounds and then pressure late rounds.

There are many things ppl do not understand

Robert Garcia specializes in training power punchers to apply pressure. He's worked with ODLH, Vargas, Viloria, Arreola, Lluevano, Ortiz, Rios, and not to mention Garcia was a pressure fighter himself...To say that Pacquiao is expecting to be pressured and will overcome it with ease is dumb...Garcia is a crafty with the art of pressuring and breaking opponents down...that's what the Oxnard gym is about! Not to mention Robert Garcia is 2-0 against Freddie Roach. Sparring partners that have sparred with both Pac and Marg say Marg hits harder. Not to mention Margarito Pressures good...Pac threw 1200 punches against Clottey when Clottey was a shell...Margarito threw over 1600against Clottey...at the later rounds Marg gets warmed up and busy...

Sparring partners say Margarito's power is un deniable...expect Garcia to make Margarito's style a Marques/Vargas style merged into one hell of a fighter...Margarito will not really have any counter skills but the combos, the pressure, and strength to corner Pacquiao where he wants him to will be there...I think mentally Margarito was not there vs Mosley...but expect him to come out elite in this fight...

good post. Even Mosley said he has power....not with one punch, but when he gets going and throws in bunches the 2nd, 3rd and 4th punches have the power. The question is will he be able to get off if Pac can execute the gameplan to a tee?? The plan will be to dart in throw no more than 2 and a mx of 3 punches...then dart out and not be there. Roach will want Pac to use his legs and move his whole body out of the way and make Margarito reset.....then repeat. If Pac can do it for the full 12 Margo might have problems getting going. I don't think there is any question he will give away the first 4 or 5 rds......MArgarito's fight is gonna be in the second half.

Like you said the key is uppercuts and body punching. From what iv'e seen Pac doesn't know how to avoid a decent uppercut.....Cotto, Clottey and JMM all hit him with any decently timed uppercut. Throw in the jab and str8 right and i give Margo a good shot.....PROVIDED THE WEIGHT IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR THEM.

I certainly give Pac credit for taking this fight.....it's 10 times better than a Cotto rematch which was looking likely.

Makes sense. I have no questions about margaritos power. If he starts landing, its over. The only questions i have are:

                  1. How is margarito going to get pacquiao on the ropes? consider pacquaios foot speed and angles (see dlh fight.) It will be interesting what will happen once pacs feet start to slow down and margarito goes full throttle.

                  2. How long can margarito get tattoed before he gets TKOd?

I gave margarito no chance before the fight, but by the way he's been looking, its looking closer to me. Just not enough to bet against pacquiao

The only way margarito will get KO'd is if he tires out...this man sprints full laps without stopping...against mosley he left himself wide open and wasnt focused he didnt tire out he just had other crap in his mind like "oh **** i might go to jail for the wraps or lose my license" mosley hit him with whaling shots till he dropped...this time he's focused and wont do the same mistakes

If thats the case, then margrito aint going anywhere. I dont question his power or his training. i sure as hell dont question his conditioning.

do you think he will have any trouble getting manny on the ropes?
