Comments Thread For: Mikkel Kessler Will Retire if The Eye Injury Continues

Mikkel Kessler, the WBC's super middleweight "champion in recess," says there is no improvement in the eye injury that forced him to withdraw from the Super Six Boxing Classic. Kessler is holding out hope that the injury clears up. The popular Danish fighters withdrew from the Super Six tournament after complaining of double vision. Kessler's recovery could take as long as nine months, according to his doctors.

Shame this had to happen to such a CHAMPION boxer but more important descent guy! Kessler is not only a great sportsman but is much respected by all! Look after your health my friend, but I do hope you recover as boxing is not going to be the same without you! You have achieved much but my thoughts you have still much more potential to achieve even greater heights!

It'll be a sad day for boxing when the Viking Warrior retires... He has always been a true champion and and true warrior.

Kessler have given the country of Denmark so much.

That sucks if that is what ends up happening, but at least he can hang his hat on his last fight being a win over an undefeated champion, and he was able to regain champion status, which he never lost in the ring.

Meanwhile Andre Dirrell will magically recover from his neurological disorder in 3 months and fight against some cabdriver.

Hopefully he'll get well & his sight will be fine & he'll be back in the ring...But if it doesn't, like other people have mention in this thread it will be sad to see a very good fighter & a true warrior like Kessler have to say good bye to the sport at what could still be considered early in his career..

Kessler is a nice man but a very average fighter. Got clocked by Calzage and by Ward and realized he was average. Not alot of skill good enough for Europe but just average every where else. He should hang it up and the eye is a great excuse not to fight Ward again. Smart move by an average pug.
