Anybody whose seen Perez vs Mares should be able to give a good arguement on the little dudes. That's one of the more memorable fights as of late, no matter what weight they were fighting at. Hell of a lot better then what we've been seeing at Heavyweight.

I was about to say yes to the TS question until I recalled having attended a handful of fights at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City, in the Philippines. Those filled the site to the rafters and patrons were of both genders with a sprinkling of in-betweens, representing all classes of society.
None of those fights had Main Events featuring fighters above SuperBantamweight. Guys on the cards were the likes of Boom Boom Bautista (before he moved up to Featherweight), Rodel Mayol, Z Gorres, etc. Not all those fights were for any world title.
Decades ago, in the US small fighters like Johnny Tapia, Paulie Ayala, Junior Jones and Kennedy McKinney drew decent crowds, which were not always composed of hardcore fans. Morales and Barrera were known by a number of those in the mainstream before their move to Featherweight and higher . Michael Carbajal and Humberto Gonzales became the first LightFlyweights to head a Pay-per-View card and their first rematch gave Carbajal both wealth and a permanent spot in history as he became the first fighter below 126 lbs. to get a 1 million dollar purse.
In England, Flyweight Charlie Magri filled Wembley Arena (legal capacity: 12,500) and the Royal Albert Hall (at the time, accommodated more than 9,000, recently reduced to 5,500 by safety laws). Many had to be turned away. Too bad O2 Arena was not there yet.
Later, "The Prince" Hamed did even better.
These recollections prevent me from giving a categorical "yes".Last edited by grayfist; 10-11-2010, 08:28 PM.

I can honestly say I am a hardcore fan, and I go out of my way, and stay home from partys just to catch fights. I really have a hard time wwatching anything under 122. That's really low as it is. Usually 140 and up for me.
You have to be an idiot to put yourself through somethong not eye pleasing just to be a hardcore fan. That's like saying if you puke up a good meal, its not a good meal unless slurp up that puke.

I never considered myself a hardcore fan....and I use to watch boxing casually back in the day.
With that said.....I have always favored FW and below over every other weight class because outside of Tyson....all my favorite fighters were at 126 and below (Tapia, Morales, Hamed and Pacquiao)
Honestly back then....I only watched those guys and gave two ****s about everyone else in boxing.Last edited by Khalid X; 10-11-2010, 08:58 PM.

I think it would be better with them in it though.
These guys (with the exception of Donaire) will eventually end up facing each other....so in this instance a tourney to force these fights would be in vain (as most of these potential fights will eventually happen).
