Number one-ranked bantamweight Fernando Montiel injured his leg in a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon, and will likely be kept out of action for the remainder of the year. Details of the incident are unavailable at the time, with Montiel’s Twitter account being the sole source of information.
“Keridos amig@s djenme informarles q lamentablemente sufri un accidente en moto y me hospitalizaron.”
“Dear friends, let me inform you that unfortunately I suffered a motorcycle accident and was hospitalized.”
Montiel also posted a graphic picture of his leg. If you wish to view the picture, click on the link below:
“Gracias, no c, mañana me dice el dr q onda pero creo q no pipipi, (Thank you, I don’t know, tomorrow the doctor will tell me what’s going on but I don’t know),” Montiel responded to a question asking if he was going to fight.
I was able to ascertain from Montiel’s tweets that his injury is a fractured tibia. When further details are released, we will post an update as to the well-being of Montiel, and to the status of his pending clash with Nonito Donaire, that was supposed to take place in February of 2011.
