c'mon man, baldomir was coming of a long long layoff. baldomir was way way way past his best.

obviously, his red hair makes him stand out, but then again, you dont see too many redheaded american prospects either. anyway, his hair color didnt have anything to do with the fact that he knocked baldomir the *** out. also, he didnt become some overnight sensation. people have been following him for years now, ever since he was a young teenager KOing full grown men.

                  1. He has a unique look for a Mexican fighter

                  2. He's not a horrible fighter

                  3. The Mexican media has hyped him up

                  4. (And this is important) Anyone remember the rumors that Floyd Mayweather was going to fight Saul Alvarez? That little maneuver from Golden Boy happened right before they signed him while Mayweather was looking for an opponent (which later turned out to be Shane Mosley). Coincidence he's more known in the US now than he was then? No.

So many of you idiots were too busy shitting on Mayweather for picking a fight with a 19 year old prospect, that you failed to realize what was really going on.

He's been managed about as well as any young boxer in a long time.

He's got skill, so the hype is legit. He's a good lookin' dude. He has a high-profile gf. He's mexican-born. Mexican culture + boxing is just a no-brainer. Has a good personality. Public opinion of him is ridiculously high in Mexico. It's just destiny.

plus he's a ginger mexican...which like one poster said...makes him the "white buffalo" of Mexican boxing, per se.

not as important as you think.

there were also rumors that wifebeater jr was gonna fight matt hatton, but matt hatton didn't blow up like the ginger kid.

points 1-3 are way more important than point 4.
