Comments Thread For: Khan Talks Macca, Says "Cleverly Can Reach Calzaghe"

WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan spoke to Wales Online about the future of rising light heavyweight star Nathan Cleverly. Khan likes what he sees from Cleverly and says he could reach the same heights as the retired Joe Calzaghe. The unbeaten Cleverly is on the verge of landing a major shot at the WBO title. He won a final eliminator last month with a stoppage of Karo Murat

Ofcourse Cleverly can reach the same heights as Calzaghe. Reaching the same heights as Calzaghe isn't much of an accomplishment.

So Amir is right when he says that Cleverly should pace himself more. First reach the same heights as boxers with mediocre resumes and from there on go try to emulate boxers with HOF resumes.

Cleverly and Calzaghe are 2 different animals, and i think it's uneccessary to draw comparisons at this stage of Clev's career.

Clev is a very exciting prospect, and is working his way up the ladder nicely, the problem i think he may find soon is that he outgrows the LHW division, and has to move up to CW.... which would be a shame as the level of opposition isn't the same up there.

Cleverly may be on his way to becoming the next Calzaghe.

I don't think you understand what doing a Khan actually means, mate.

Nothing wrong with working your way up slowly and surely and getting good experience along the way.
