of course it does, fools think it doesn't doesn't know what he is aiming for and how to properly do so for speed, technique/speed/foot work/cordination/hand-fist improvements/etc...if you know what you are doing shadow boxing is a great work out, someone out of shape can't do 1 round of shadow boxing

On another note, it's like someone who doesn't actually box but hits the heavy bag, speed bag, double end bag, etc would at least have an advantage over an average dude off the streets in a street fight. it's all about technique and doing those things (even if your not a fighter) helps you in a street fight.
