The Heavyweight division will never come back.

I think it's safe to say this division is the poorest division in the sport and will never matter again. It's sad to think that for nearly 100 years it was looked at as one of the most important sporting events, an event that was a must see, an event that national media gave true respect to, not for the brutal event that it can be but as an athletically gifted spectacle. Where we have all the fighters gone that actually can entertain I ask you? Where are the men among all men that are looked at as the most powerful men on Earth? Instead we are stuck watching a bore fest by two fighters that are bigger than everyone else, popping a jab and putting us to sleep. There is no talent in the division and that starts with the top. All I see is a couple guys that take advantage of their reach and where I come from that isn't skill, that's just using advantages. What has happened to the big men that can actually move and show that they are not just slow lumbering boars....

To watch Ali and Frazier and then watch a "big" time heavyweight boxing event just blows my mind. How can 35 years have such a drastic drop off.

Part of the problem is the heavy weights are bigger these days. The lighter divisions have always been more entertaining. 250 pound fighters can't move or fight like 210 or 220 pound boxers.

Stop being such a drama queen.

It will come back around. There will be heavyweight fights in the next 20 years that will get the public excited, I guarantee you.

And what's with this 35 years lark? Did you forget Mike Tyson's reign of terror? Lewis-Holyfield in the 90's?

Nah, there has been eras where the HW division has been just as bad as this one if not worse.

Boxing goes in cycles, one minute a division is loaded and than it's empty.

Heavyweight division will come back, but USA won't have any of the top guys.

            1. All the entertaining guys are in the lower weight classes atm. Think Pac, Floyd etc etc.

            2. PR and Mex fighters.....well there just really isn't any noteworthy ones above 160. So two of the biggest fanbases are bias toward the lower classes.

            3. They said the HW division was in trouble in the late 70's and 80's. Tyson exploded onto the scene like a locomotive and captured the hearts and minds of the public selling a million PPV's againt tomato cans and legit opponents alike.

            4. It's not Wlad or Vitali fault that there is no HW's out there that are quick or explosive enough to make them fight!!!!!!!

            5. It will eventually return. It will only take one explosive (and well promoted) domestic HW fighter from the US to ensure that.

            6. Until then enjoy what the smaller men have to offer in terms of superior skill, speed, stamina, conditioning.......etc

              ^^^What this guy said.

Seriously you gotta stop whining theres good boxing in the heavyweight division its just that theres a big duck up there too.

Boxing, like all sports, goes through dry patches of talent in certain divisions.

Between Marciano and Louis there wasn't much excitement to be honest.

Check is just another jealous, bitter xenophobic American moron who hates the fact that Eastern Europeans are dominating the heavyweight division and destroying all of the best American heavyweights. That same thing is happening in other weight classes too. Eastern Europeans are taking over boxing and that makes Check angry.

Emanuel Agustus(The drunken master) Also gave Floyd Mayweather a hell of a fight. Even had Floyd leaking in that fight but also got his ass beat pretty bad. And, I think the opponent is Ray Olivera a 140 pound contender at one point.
