the redness on Jones face wasnt from punishment it was from him being on the ropes and covering up and gettin hit in the gloves, his laces on his glove did most of that redness
ops my bad.
So it was from his guard being pushed into his face when Tarver was ****ing on his arms?

Well if the laces ripped up his face due to the impact of Tarver's punches against the gloves, would the redness therefore have not been caused by punishment delivered by Tarver?
It's like I fire a gun at you and the bullet kills you... yeah it wasn't physically any part of my body that tore a hole in you but it was still caused by me.
That being said, it is true... it was the tape and not the laces but this is what caused the markings on Jones' face, not clean punches to the face. Truth be told he did block 90% of the punches in those flurries as well but the first fight was won on ring generalship alone and Roy did deserve that win. Tarver spent too much time backing up and avoiding conflict while in the center of the ring where 70% of the fight took place.
It's a good matchup because Roy won more rounds in their 2 fights but Tarver had the more decisive win of course with the KO. The 3rd match hopefully won't be too close or we'll never hear the end of it from either of their fans!
Although many punches were blocked in fight #1 by Jones, Tarver still landed more clean punches on Roy Jones in one fight than all the other fighters combined have landed on him in his pro career... that says a lot for Tarver right there. The redness was also caused by the clean shots, I just meant to say it more a product of the tape rubbing on his face than Tarver's gloves.
The thing is there aren't many Tarver fans, they're just Roy Haters who converted into Tarver fans.
Like the whole thing with Hopkins/Taylor. Not alot of people on here gave a **** about Taylor going into the fight - sure they called him the heir apparent and stuff, but they weren't big fans. 90% of the people jocking Taylor are Hopkins haters.

Good point. I was thinking the same thing when people were cheering at the bar I was at when McBride got the win over Tyson.
The thing im worried about with Roy is that he never had good defense. He's always relied on his speed to take care of his bad defense. Tarver has amazing counter-punching skills and Roy doesn't have the type of speed he had back in his prime. I'll be rooting for him, because hes my fav fighter, but I don't like his chances

Excellent, a Jones fan admitting that his past his prime!...
Good stuff..
Roy is DONE!
I will laugh sooooooo hard when he gets ktfo again...
When I first heard that Roy was gonna fight Tarver again for the third time, my first speculation was that Roy is gonna get knocked out or beat easily by Tarver. But now I am not quite sure. I just their first fight, and I noticed that Tarver is also not the same fighter as he was at that time. In his second fight with Jones, Tarver did absoutely nothing until he threw that left hand. In both the Johnson fights, he was able to throw combinations only because Johnson just came straight at him, and if Roy still have his speed, Tarver won't be able to do that. I guess what I'm saying is...everyone is saying that Roy is shot, but I also think that Tarver aint the same fighter as he was before and that people should give a chance for Roy to win.
Your dad REALLY slacked off since he KO'ed Jones. It's like that was all he ever wanted, and he wasn't gonna do anything big after it. Well, now's his chance to KO Jones TWICE. He SHOULD be able to do it, but if he doesn't I won't be surprised. They're both just after $$$ at this point.
