Why do people like to point out the obvious about guys like Lacy?

I think we all know that a fighter like Lacy is no Floyd Mayweather Jr. in terms of natural skill.

But I keep seeing posts after every fight of his that "he has no skills". Almost as if people feel he is being exposed every fight.

Lacy doesn't claim to be Pernell Whitaker. He doesn't claim to be something he is not. What he IS is a face forward, no nonsense, tough as nails, power puncher.

He can be a smart fighter in the combinations he throws at times. But no one is calling him some defensive wizard or the sharpest puncher in the book.

People who like him are fans of him for what he is. Boxing wouldn't be what it is if everyone fought like Juan Manuel Marquez.

All I am saying is that when you point out that Lacy is not the Robinson of boxing in terms of boxing ability, you are not telling us anything new. He is no dumb fighter. He does what he does and does it well.

What I don't understand is why fighters don't jab and use a ton of movement to win rounds against the guy. I think everyone wants to man-up and out-bomb Lacy because he is right there to be hit.

Eventually someone is going to fight the correct fight and you are going to get something like Mayweather-Gatti.

I think a slick boxer can win a UD against Lacy right now. The only question is who? Winky Wright would try that hands-up defense, and I think Lacy could wear him down.

I would give Lacy a good chance against both Tarver and Johnson.

Johnson likes to keep constant pressure right? Lacy will thrive on that. That could be a very exciting fight! I dont see him moving up anytime soon though. Atleast not untill 2006.

The reason people talk about Lacy's boxing abilities is because we have seen fighter like him before. Some fighters can only punch and if an alusive tricky fighter fights them they get exposed. I am NOT saying that will happen with Lacy...

I pretty much said the same thing about people pointing out hte obvious about him. He doesn't care what you hit him with, hell I think he likes being hit sometimes. He walks right through people's jabs to get inside and do damage.

And whoever said a slick boxer would make it into a Gatti-Mayweather, I highly doubt anyone can avoid this kids combinations for that long. That slick boxer better have a chin, because Lacy WILL get through eventually and connect.

It's gonna take a Toney-like fighter to even give this kid any problems. A guy who can hit and not get hit, but one that can take a hit as well. Not to mention aside from hitting and not getting hit, he better have enough pop to back him off, cause he will WALK THROUGH people's offense.

Those combinations are pretty rare, and as it looks right now, Lacy could be on top for a while.
