There is mounting pressure on WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez to retain his title on November 6 against Rafael Marquez. The number of champions in Puerto Rico has decreased over the last year. Unbeaten champions like Roman Martinez and Ivan Calderon have been beaten. At one point there were eight champions from Puerto Rico. Now there are only three remaining with Miguel Cotto and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. as the other two.

Juanma is not Superman and loosing to Marquez is not a long shot at all.
We had 8 champions at one time and now have only 3, but even 3 championship its pretty good in my book when you consider the size of the Island.

I hope He wins, but I'm not dismissing Marquez who is VERY capable and willing to take one more title from the Island.

¿When did Puerto Rico have 8 champions at 1 time? I could recall 7 at 1 time, but not 8..& I mean official champions from recognized alphabet leech organism's like the WBC, WBA, IBF or WBO, not the other crazy organism's which not many people know they even exist like IBO, IBA, WBF ect ect...& if Juanma is counting on Oquendo & heavyweight Bisbal becoming world champion's in the next year, he's in a world of S H I T!! Lets keep it real! Bisbal is NEVER going to be a heavyweight champ!! & I don't see Oquendo becoming a champ at 122lbs any time soon.. In his last fight, the ONLY reason Oquendo scored a KO against Sansona(Eden) was because Sansona seriously ran out of gas & at the time he went down the fight was really close & this Sansona ain't even top of the line opposition like his cousin 115lbs exchamp Marvin Sansona who now fight's in this same weight class..& even thou the Arroyo's look like future champion material & hopefully they will become world champions, but they are just starting out & Pedraza & Gonzalez are still amateur's & doesn't seem like they are going to hit the pros any time soon..

Loosing to anyone is BAD, but there's no shame loosing to a great 2 weight division world champion & proven warrior like Marquez..I mean is not good, but it's not horrible..Now if Juanma would have lost to Tomato can MtaGwa, that WOULD HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE!!!

Thou I think see Your point...If Your referring to the Boricua & Mexican rivalry in which in the last few big name fights between Mexican's & Boricuas the Mexicans have had the better hand, then yea, looking at it that way it would be Horrible for Us!!
