Amir Khan or Victor Ortiz - Who Is The Bigger Puncher?

Ortiz by a lot. I've never seen Amir KO someone like Ortiz has. U can see the heavy-handedness of Ortiz that u can't see with Amir. I really haven't seen Amir do anything that really proves he's even close to Ortiz's power. If he knocks Maidana down 3 times than maybe. That should even be easy if he had Ortiz's power considering how much faster and more accurate he is compared to Ortiz. However, I doubt it.Comment

In short had Ortiz been knocked down in the quick flash knockdown way Khan was I would expect him to get up and do as Khan did and not quit at that point as he did in the Maidana fight. That is why I don't buy into the logic of your quote.
Back to the original question. Ortiz is a far heavier puncher but Khan is faster. Khan's punch speed can Ko above it's KO power because the opponent does not see the punch coming. But there is no question Ortiz hits harder and has more behind his shots.Last edited by John Hue; 10-07-2010, 06:47 AM.Comment

I don't agree with this not because I don't think you are right but the logic is flawed. Carying on after flash knockdowns is one thing but this is not the same as continuing on after a long sustained beating. Khan was in the fight then **** and he got up then **** was down agai then up and the fight stopped. There is no question he tried to continue. In Ortiz's case it was a longish drawn out beating where he had time to THINK while it is going on. I used to box and can tell you that getting up after flash knock downs is totally different experience to having to continue after a long and sustained beating.

Ortiz was in the fight and was winning on all of the judges scorecards by 3 points. He simply lacked the heart and determination to continue when he got knocked down in the 6th round. Maidana landed an average of 11 punches per round in that fight and from what I saw, Ortiz never absorbed anything close to what I would call a "long sustained beating".
A long sustained beating would be something like, Cotto vs Margarito, Khan vs Malignaggi, Pacquiao vs Oscar etc etcComment

khan doesn't hit as hard as ortiz, but ortiz is a quitter and a runner, thus khan has more heart.Comment

I understand what you're trying to say but you are wrong in saying that Ortiz was taking a "long, sustained, beating", cause that is simply not true.
